...**Terry! I have found a 2004 Honda Accord EX - V6 Auto with 17k miles being offered for $13,995. From the pictures it looks like it's in excellent condition.
Is this the right price for this vehicle or is there something terribly wrong with it that the dealer might be hiding?

What would be the right price for this vehicle? What price should I offer if I did find a car similar to this?**
           ==================================

     04 Honda Accord EX V6 Auto with 17,000 miles for: $13,999 .....? .. here's some possibilities:

It's been hit more times than Joe Lewis ...

It's a test platform used by Terrorists ...

      It's been hit by a meteorite ...

It's a test vehicle by the French from 3 weeks ago ...

It was used as a row boat after Katrina ...

It was used as a submarine during Rita ...

Pick one ... there's no such thing as a $13,999 04 17k Honda EX V6 unless "one or all" of the above happened --- it's a $20,000 vehicle .... in the meantime, I have this little piece of property just south of the Caymans and ...........

Just a quick update...

It's been almost 2 months. I did exactly as you said, but I had no responses at the $12,900. I only started getting responses when I lowered it to $11,900 and those responses were all in the "why are you charging so much?" vein. With no one willing to pay that, I've now lowered the price to $10,800 and I'm still getting lots of responses from people who say I'm asking too much because I'm over Blue Book. I'm getting lots of offers for $10k and under, but I haven't bitten yet. I'm getting a little antsy though and may have to go low if I can't sell in the next few weeks.

So I do appreciate your help, but you were way off this time.

I was asking 23,900 just by word of mouth to some friends who spread the word.

We're working on it, I have it scheduled to go to another audi dealer an hour-ish away from me, so we'll see.

Thanks for the help.

Here's another one-

2001 Mitsubishi Galant
4dr saloon
2.0 litre 4-cylinder manual tranny
35K on it
Green exterior with light grey interior
Base model (not a single option)
A few scratches here and there
Tires are close to new

Is it a good car? - (Actually, I am not buying it for myself, It's for someone else)
What price should I expect?

I read the old post you are responding from to figure out what type of car you are selling. I live in the central Texas area (which is cheaper cost of living than where you are located) and there are used 2000 CRVs with 75k to 95k miles being sold for $9,5k(abused) & $11,5k(well cared) avg in the local region newspaper and these are private sales. I think Terry's right with his number. He of all people would know. The people responding to your add are just manipulating you to see if the price would lower. That happened to an old friend of mine that was selling his '03 Honda Pilot 34,000 miles 21,000. Everyone gave him the why such a steep price - and someone purchased it from him for about $500 under his asking price - about three months later.

You may be in a time crunch, and if so your best bet money wise is to take it to a nearby CarMax - see what they'll offer - give it another week and if not offers are better, then sale it to CarMax! <PS:Carmax in Austin is selling your vehicle type for $12,9k.> If you have time, repost it in the paper ... I wish you the best of luck. I am posting my 02 Mazda in the paper so I know the feeling.

Terry. I was able to locate the following offer here in the central Texas area. The carfax is clean, and the car looks like its in good condition. Please tell me what price would be right for this? The owner noted the following.

2004 Honda Accord LX $15,500 or best offer
2.4L 4 Cylinder
5spd manual transmission
Clean Condition
Power Windows, Mirrors, & Locks
4 Wheel ABS Brakes
Front & Side airbags for driver/passenger
(this is an upgrade option not standard on LX models)
Alloy custom wheels
Spoiler
Tinted windows - professionally done
Color: Graphite Pearl (Grey) & Grey cloth interior

I'm going to have a friend of the family thats a mechanic take a look at it further. THANKS TERRY!

Streetster... since you are bringing up the Jeep again... what are all the particulars on the one that you were looking at? You said it has a V6 but you didn't say much else... does it have..., 4x4 ? , sunroof ? leather? heated seats ?

The miles just seemed really high for a $10,000 asking price.

I ran the Jeep that you are looking at and these are the numbers that I came up with since you didn't list many options.

Trade in = $4517

Private party = $6176

Dealer Retail = $7902

Run the numbers yourself and see what you come up with.. remember to "check" all the options so your number will be more accurate.

Looks like Terry hit this one on the nose!

Mark
