You're getting the kind of car you've been talking about (I think), certified, + walking away with $5500. There might be a few hundred more $$ there you could try for, maybe. Occasionally a dealer hits you with both a very good price on a nice car, & a good price for your trade. If you like the LS.......depends on how much longer you want to keep shopping I guess. I'd be pretty tempted, myself.

Sale price for a 2000 Sienna XLE? by zenking

We just bought a 2002 RX 300 and decided to sell our 2000 Sienna XLE on our own. Can anyone give me an idea on what to ask? Here is the scoop:
Western burbs of Chicago
Mileage - 67350 - One-owner
Denin blue with grey leather, moon roof, roof rack, usual XLE features, replaced original 6-CD changer with JVC single CD, MP3 and XM ready
Excellent condition, non-smoker, gargaged, Mobil 1 oil/filter change every 4,500K, hand washed 90% of time with annual Zaino clay-bar, newer brakes and rotors, about 35K on Yokohama Avid Tourings, all maintenance records. Had one minor parking lot incident, resulting in new rear bumper about 6 months after purchase. No dings or dents, some minor scratches. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

ok, so i went ahead and subscribed to Galves. Good thing, too. Edmunds' $22K number on that Lincoln is ridiculous. Trade-in is $15,500. So, really, the $17,995 is just a fair price. Probably could even have another $500 or so to play with.

$23,500 is right on for the Z.

But now I'm thinking. With the upgraded engine and extra standard features in '03 (adjustable pedals, cooled seats, etc) ... it seems it SHOULD only cost me $1000 or so more to step up. Trade-in on an '03 with 32k miles is about $16,500 and an '04 is only about $700 more. So the search continues. That same dealer with the '02 has an '03, but they're asking price is pretty high and they were really unwilling to deal on it.

There are always "reasons" to blow off a good deal on a nice car, or house, & continue the Search for the Holy Grail. (This is from someone who's driven ex-spouse, ex-g.f., etc. crazy with eternal car shopping quests). I don't know the pricing on LS's; but I'm wondering why the dealer wants so much more for an '03, if it "should" cost only $1000 more than an '02.....good luck tho.

2001 Impala - Trade In Value by 2nd2none

Does anyone know the "dealer" trade in value for a 2001 Chevy Impala. Fully loaded minus the sunroof. Onstar, extra security device which is "Locktronics" which, disables the starter until you plug in the matching PC chip which enables it, then you turn the key to start. Florida car all the way if you couldn't tell by the x-tra security. Very clean kept, garage stored, mint condition. no rust or like features anywhere on the vehicle. 61,000 miles however, which are fully 110% highway miles only.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am thinking of trading in for the new H3 Hummer. Thanks!

Terry,
Firstly, thanks for all your help.
I bought a 03 Z4 3.0 fully loaded (except the navigation). Sports, premium, convenience package, 36K miles & great condition from So Cal. Bought it for $29.1.
Drove it along the PCH to the bay area today. Lots of fun. Just thought you might be interested in knowing. Just out of curiosity, what do you think about this deal?
Thanks.

99' SAAB 9-3 with new factory built engine - Value? by jay45

Hey all,

I have a 99 SAAB 9-3, 4 door hatchback coupe, with sports/turbo package (71K miles, leather interior, sun roof, low profile tires, overall good condition). Head gasket blew and subsequently the engine fouled and started to seize. Ultimately it was covered by warantee although I had to fight for 2 months... during which time I bought another vehicle. So now I have a car with a brand new, SAAB factory built engine with a total of 50 miles on it. Edmonds lists about $5682 for private party sale value if the engine had 71K miles. My question is what is a reasonable expected value for the car with a brand new factory engine and dealer maintained and one year left on the extended warantee? I was thinking in the 8K range, any thoughts or suggestions?

Please let me know either on the board or by e-mail. Thanks.

Not a lot of information to go by... Is it like this one, except with more miles?

It's kind of like saying the car has new tires. The Edmund's price assumes the car is in good condition, tires and engine included. The fact that the engine is recently remanufactured doesn't really add anything to the value, and may detract from it. Case in point, would you want to buy a used, European car that is so unreliable and/or neglected that it grenaded an engine at 71,000 miles? Place an ad with one of the Saab enthusiast groups and hope for the best.

1999 Audi A6 Sedan 2.8l V6 2wd
Tan metallic over tan leather
95k miles
Sunroof and the usual pwr junk.
Tires ok for another summer but not for winter driving.
The car was bought in FL, so I'm guessing it's the typical snowbird deal.

It's at an estate sale my wife got tipped off to -- she's an antique dealer, so once in a while, there's a car involved, too. It smells a little, but it's not a smoker's car... just kinda dirty, not been detailed etc.

Maintenance seems to be OK; t-belt's been done a couple years back, plus the umpteen recalls. Plus a few bills for electrical gremlin exorcism... usual Audi stuff.

It sat in a fairly dark garage, so I can't be sure, but it looked to be free of major body work... the trunk lid was slightly askew, so I'm guessing the bumper got pushed in a little and it got a new cover.
I wasn't getting the warm fuzzies from the car, but it wasn't a rat by a long shot.

They are asking $7,700, which strikes me as OK for someone who really wants it. It's a one-owner car, and the paperwork says they paid $38 for it. I don't think I'm interested; if it were a q wagon, I'd be all over it... but I'd like to know what the numbers should be.

TIA,
-Mathias
