My wife and I just bought an 06 Passat. It requires only 91 octane. My brother sells them and he says a lot of the guys he works with who drive the turbos run 87 octane. I don't know what you're getting by running premium or giving up by running regular. But if your car gets 30 miles per gallon on the highway, it only costs about a half a cent more per mile to run premium. And btw, we've gotten as good as 33.4 in our new Passat on the highway and so far I've only put BP 93 octane in it.

The invoice price? by zpoor

Hi,

I checked the invoice price for the 06 Passat 2.0T Auto with pacakge #1 on edmunds. The price shows $25158. But one dealer told me the invoice should be $25525. Which one is the right one? I am really confused. Is that possible different dealers have different invoice prices?

Thanks!

There may be some kind of regional advertising fee on the dealer's invoice..

Edmunds doesn't include those, as they may vary by region or metro area...

The invoice Edmunds shows is a little low, but anyone should be able to by a 2.0T at the TMV price or less. Just remember, when you drive off with that $500 or less over invoice price, yes, the dealership made money (and they WILL make more if you're trading), but the salesman (like my brother who sells VWs) will be lucky to make $100. Sure, he'll make a lot more on some, but I'm looking for a good Christmas present this year!

'06 Passat 2.0T w/Pkg 1 by caraddict27

Well I just bought a '06 Passat 2.0T Automatic with a package 1 for 25,369, which came out to 27,200 after T.T.& L. That's about $200 over the invoice price according to edmunds. I believe I could have gotten it down to invoice if I negotiated/haggled the salesman some more, but it was late and I wanted to get the Passat in my garage. I was also quoted a drive-out price of 25,890 for a base model 2.0T automatic (package 0) from the same dealership. BTW I bought the car in Houston, TX. Hope this helps some of you guys out .

seem you got a good deal,
my passat 2.0T+Pkg1, $24955 + TTL, 3.9% 36 months
I got it last week in Chicago, IL
I think I can make the price better,
while I didn't have enough time because I don't live in Chicago.
anyway I like the car.
