So, in looking at this, is the $3,000 "marketing $$" still available to the dealer, (as listed on this site)? I am looking to get an '05 GLS 4 Motion wagon, manual and am wondering what I should expect to pay. I will finance it through my credit union so I just want the best out-the-door deal. I am up in the Boston area, so I guess that may play a part in this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The marketing support is only available on the 2004 models. For an 04, you should be able to get $5 - $6K off of MSRP (check Quirk VW ads in the Sunday Globe, or look at their site online)

For 05 pricing, check carsdirect.com. Your car is quoted at $26.3K. For comparison, an 04 GLX 4motion wagon is available for $28.5K. Keep in mind that a dealer should beat this price. In my case, Quirk beat the carsdirect price by just over $1k.

Quirk VW had an ad in the Boston Globe (this past Sunday) advertising a 2004 VW Passat for $16999. I'm sure this is a manual, and assume they are throwing in the $1k VW loyalty discount. Are there any additional incentives they are throwing in that I am not aware of? I would call them, but they are closed. Any thoughts?

I am sure the $16,999 price is for a Passat GL. Which would still be a tremendous deal!!!! Depending on where you live, there could be up to $2500 in incentives. I am sure dealers are willing to wheel and deal on leftover 2004's.

When they brought the car around ... it had a hanging tag that said "The dealer has added pinstriping for $195." I said there was no way I was paying for it. They took it off the price.

I literally bought the only TDI wagon for sale in the 5 dealerships in Houston. I had no leverage.

Just a thought on the loyalty incentive...we are just getting ready to buy a 2004 passat GL wagon and my husband owned a 1985 Quantum which was totalled by a drunk driver in 1999, they dealer here in KS just required us to get proof that the car was once registered to my husband. It meant a little leg work getting the registration record from the state and a $6 fee, but worth it to get the price that we wanted.
You may approach the finance manager about this if it isn't too late.
Good luck!

Got it for about 27000 or so and they threw in window tinting. Black on black. It was the only manual on the lot. Financing at 1.9, since I did not put anything down and with the resale value I am now not upsidedown in payments. Moved and tried to sell the car this year for about $1000 below kelly but got very very few lookers. Guess I am OK with that since I really like the car anyway. Best things about the car, solid, fine fit and finish, great resale if you can get anyone to look at it.

I just bought a GLS 1.8T automatic, year 2005 for 23.000 at 3.9%. It's my first experience with VW. Before, I had an Acura Integra.
Even though the driving is great, I'm kind of worried because of all the bad things about VW people keep telling me since I have the car.
I also bought extended warranty platinum 7 years/ 100.000 miles for $ 1,863. I found it kind of expensive and I am thinking to cancel it. I have 60 days to do so. Can someone tell me if it is a good idea to cancel it.
