Replying to: jlv1 (Jun 23, 2004 7:05 pm) Invoice on the car you are getting is $25,813. MSRP is $28,249. Thats actually not a bad deal, but I do believe that you could get the car below invoice. Most dealers are really wanting to rid their lots of Passats. So, stick to your guns and get them below invoice. I almost guarantee that you can negotiate a better deal. Do you currently own a VW. On my deal, I also received a $1000 owner loyalty rebate on top of the $2000. I am also not familiar with the Drivers Option choice. When talking to the dealer a couple of years ago about my current Jetta they sort of steered me away from the drivers option. Not sure why! |

I agree with frank and fish. The price for your car should be, at minimum, 2 grand under invoice. The 05s are on the doorstep, after all. Secondly, I would avoid Driver's Option. Either buy at today's excellent low interest rates, or do a standard lease. If you lease, negotiate the price of the car before you begin haggling on lease terms. |

Hello All, Could you all please help me out. I am looking at purchasing getting 2004 Passat GLS at $22,000. No other options such as leather, esp, etc. The dealer is giving me this price with the 1.9%APR for 60 months. Is this a good price/deal?? Thanks

Edmunds has finally listed the TDI among the Passat new cars. They show the TMV as identical to MSRP. VW dealer incentive for the GLS gasser is $2000, but only $750 for the GLS TDI. Evidently because of short supply and high demand, dealers are demanding MSRP for TDIs. List prices for the TDI are only $205 above the Automatic gasser. However people are reporting being able to get the gassers about $3000 below MSRP (or $1000 below Invoice). This means that the true premium for a TDI Passat is about $3000! I was planning to get a TDI, but not if I have to pay that much for it. Maybe in another year... Any comments about this situation?
