What Do You Think? by dcmike

Greetings all. Just wanted to know if you think this is a good deal:
2001.5 Passat GLX
28,500 Miles
Silver/Blue Exterior - Black Leather
$19,599
Just sold my Camry (thank God!) and the wife and I really like the Passat. Questions:
1. On the GLX is Premium gasoline recommended or required?
2. Does the CD player/changer come standard with the GLX (This one has neither)?
3. Should I have any concerns with the 01.5 or should I look for an 02?

Thanks for the assistance.

That sounds like allot to spend for a 2001.5 Passat. I really have not priced them, but to me it sounds a little high. Also, the warranty has expired, so that would bother me some. Just my thoughts for what their worth.

I gave my 2000 Station Wagon 4 motion Passat and got a 2003 one, the deal was to good to be true, so I took it:-)
I hope I do not have any problems with my new Passat and hopefully VW Credit will not cause any problems later.I was told that my car was in fine shape so I should be OK, in case I may be hit buy a wear and tear bill by VW credit I will be pretty mad.
The Dealership worked excellent, so I hope everything goes smooth after this point.

Give us some details on your new Passat. I am interested to see how the Pull Ahead deal worked for you. How much time remained on your previous lease? What king of Passat did you get? I hope to take advantage of the same deal next summer if VW offers a similar deal.

Congrats on your new car!!

My lease was about to expire 7/2004.
I got a 4 motion GLX Station Wagon.
It looked like a no brainer, hoping that everything goes smooth from now on..

To Sadatx on '03 GLX by hassamassahoff

I just bought an '03 GLX V6 with 4motion and ESP for 28.8 here in Central Virginia. The dealer got it from NC when I told him I could get a demo with 6k miles from a competitor for 28.5! I was and still am very happy: new car with 900 miles on it, loaded, in the color I wanted. 1.9% financing from VW made it even sweeter. I don't know where you are, but the '03s are available. You just have to be willing to look and ask. My dealer was Terry VW in Lynchburg.

Help! Quick decision time by brozhnik

Thought I'd bought a Passat, but before I signed the contract and took possession, a distraction came up. Here, I'd found a 2003 GL in the exterior color I want (white) if the wrong interior (tan - shows dirt?), but with all the features I want (ESP and heated seats); I got the TMV price of $21,500 with 1.9% financing. I can take possession right away.
But an internet dealer in a city 300 miles away just offered me a 2004 with all those features plus the grey interior I want, at essentially the same price: $21,600. Seems like a no-brainer to go for it. But... with the latter I don't know what the financing will be, since it won't arrive at the dealer for a couple of weeks--maybe it will be a higher rate?? I'll have to go on a weekend trip to get it. And is there any danger they'll change the price in the intervening weeks, or something could go wrong?
I don't know.
Anyway, yes, it seems far more sensible to get the '04 at the same price than the '03, and also get the interior I want. But maybe not? I gotta decide soon on the '03, so I'm under pressure. I'd appreciate feedback and guidance. Thanks.

Get the dealership with the '04 to give you all the details in writing. Let them know that if they enter into this "contract" with you, that you will commit to buying the vehicle. This will at least give you some security about it, although, as with everything else in life, unforseen issues could arise, but at least you would have something to fall back on.
