bardo_state.thanks for that detailed explanation!
I got a quote from for a GLS V6 auto, monsoon, leather for $24,659 in bayarea. This works a little different though..This person gets some direct factory prices...So he doesnt have a large no of inventory at his place(in steeven's creek)I haven't been there though..

Does anyone know how good is Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP)???

Also the standard wheel size for GLS V6 is 15",what will be impact on gas if I want 16" or 17" wheels?

I've been looking for a GLX 4-motion/ESP wagon in San Diego/Orange County for the last few weeks. No one has them in stock. I'm told customers in SoCal just don't want it. I guess no one down here drives much in the Mountains and Snow, although it surprises me given the number of skiers. The dealers tell me they can get the car from dealers up north, but the prices from numerous dealers has been well above the Edmunds TMV price ($500 to $1000 above TMV). This is, in essence, a few hundred above invoice. Maybe this is still reasonable. I can't get any of these phenomenal deals that others are quoting (a thousand or more below invoice). Don't know if any others have had similar experiences. Supply and demand, I suppose. The GLX sedan 4-motion-ESP seems to be in larger supply down here than the wagon.

2003 GLX Wagon vs. 2000 BMW iAt Wagon by tlr5

I'm in the market for a wagon and was sold on the 2003 Passat GLX AWD ($32,000) when I found a 2000 iAt wagon with all the bells and whistles, 50,000 miles, almost perfect condition, with a 2 yr/50,000 mile warranty for $27,000. I loved that, too. Do you have any advice about what to consider as I make my choice? Any wise insights or enlightening experiences?

From all your messages, $32,000 sounds high for the GLX. As the risk of sounding dumb, is "invoice" or "TMW" the same as dealer cost?

Many thanks!

I closed a deal with 26780 + taxes(bay area) on GLX 03 passat with ESP included. This was well below yesterdays TMV invoice 27071.And got a 1.9 financing as well.I even got better deals for a different color from other dealers but finally purchased by blue beauty!

james_ca, ArmourAll is the worst! Not only does it leave surfaces greasy, but it'll attract dust and dirt like a magnet. I've found that Lexol products work very nicely with the leather and vinyl surfaces in my Passat without leaving excessive shine.
Not sure what's the best way of cleaning ArmourAll off of the surfaces you've applied it to (perhaps wiping with a clean damp cloth?), but visit the following websites for some great car-care advice:
