Forgot one important part of the price I got--the $27,400 price & $28,000 out the door on the GLX wagon was AFTER application of the $500 VW owner loyalty credit. Pete |

Stohlman VW in Tyson's Corner was a easy purchase for me. I paid invoice plus invoice for the options I added on. They didn't even ask me for any of that undercoating, scotchguard, alarm options that Honda/Ford/Nissan/Chevy have all pushed on me. I was in and out in 2 hours and that included picking the car, getting credit through VW (I got their 3.9% over 5 years- so happy about that!!), prepping the car, they showed me the entire dealership (service center, body shop, wait room, etc) and had someone go over the entire car with me before I left the dealership. Overall I was very impressed and as an added touch- they sent me chocolate chip cookies as a thank you! I e-mailed their internet dept. and was given a quote on one Passat but changed my mind on an option when I got there and was still given invoice. I worked with Tom G. but he also works with someone named Mike when he's not there. They have a website but I don't think I'm allowed to post it. Hope this helps! | I bought my wagon from Stohlman in Tyson's corner and second the recommendation. I shopped all the area dealers looking for a specific color combination and found Stohlman beat everyone else's price (College Park, Martens). It was an easy purchase, no pressure to buy extras, no hassles in the finance office. Congressional, Springfield, Karen Radley, and others didn't have the color/option combination I wanted so I didn't price them. I bought the wagon for $27,400 (after $500 rebate, before taxes, tags--total out the door was $28,000 after $500 rebate). Mine has 5 speed manual transmission, plus ESP. I think you can get better deals on the GLX sedans, especially if you want an automatic. Stohlman has a bunch of GLX's on the lot, so does Springfield VW. The guy at Marten's called back after I bought my car and said that they were offering their Passats for $3000 below MSRP, which brings it closer to invoice. Good luck finding the car you want, it seems like there are some good deals to be had out there if you buy off the lot. If you do go to Baltimore, I found that Russel had the lowest prices when I bought a Jetta in 2000. | |

After test driving the cars, I decided to go with a Passat Wagon, GLS 1.8T automatic with leather and ESP. Any suggestions on whether to go with the Monsoon system or not? Is it worth the $$ ? Is there a quality difference or just power difference? (not into playing music loud). The first quote was 1% over invoice, which in her description includes the 575 dest and $267 fees (ad, port, floor plan?). Then options at invoice price, I assume. From what I read in the posts, people are getting the car for invoice, or even below. What argument can I use for that? that they are getting 2% incentives (for instance) from manufacturer and thus making money even at invoice? How much difference should I expect in price between buying off the lot and ordering? Thank you for any help/comments. |

I've learned a lot on all those things, especially those fees and how they may be negotiable, even if Edmunds says no, at a great site. Look up: "car buying tips" at a search engine and you'll get lots of valuable info for free. I don't recommend walking into a dealership without reading it first. Again, has anyone bought a VW in CT recently? Thanks |

Can anybody tell me what extended warranties are out there from VW for a new Passat Wagon? I have been told via a dealer to come in to discuss but I do not want to go thru all that pressure! Prices? Also, I have been offered 28400 (out the door) for a 03 Passat Wagon GLX Auto with ESP. I realize that invoice out the door would be 29000 for me in SC. So, the dealer is basically offering me invoice minus 500 VCI incentive. Has anybody bought under invoice? Has anybody heard anything about June and July Incentives? How long will the VCI last? I appreciate your help! |

Hi cuengineer. You can find a number of posts on extended warranties over on the Edmunds.com town Hall's Finance, Warranty, & Insurance Message Board. Rather than giving in to your local dealer's pressure to come in to talk about an extended warranty for your vehicle, you are free to purchase one from any Volkswagen dealership in the U.S. You can get several price quotes on coverage for your vehicle by calling, or even easier e-mailing numerous dealerships. Once you have gotten a few price quotes and have found an attractive one, you can always give your local dealer an opportunity to match. As far as this model's current incentives go, for June VW is providing $400 dealer cash on 2003 Passat models that are financed or leased through Volkswagen Credit. If you are able to purchase this car for less than invoice then you are getting a very good deal. It is difficult to say what Volkswagen will do with its July incentives, but I don't anticipate them being much different than they are right now. Car_man Host Smart Shoppers / FWI Message Boards |

You can learn a lot about extended warraties at the website I mentioned in message #2120 and someone had posted about earlier. You can buy them online or at least get quotes from them and then ask the dealer to match them (dealers add on a lot of profit on them). The site also tells you what to watch out for in the coverage. You can buy the warranties online after you've purchased the car. CarDeals reported that the 1.9% interest up to 60 months incentive continues for June. Anyone bought a VW in CT/RI/Southern MA/NY lately? Thanks |

I noticed on edmunds that the invoice price is 27910. does this price include the aditional vw fees like floor reserve, ad fee, etc. I have a dealer wlling to sell at invoice (27910) minus the 500 vci incentive. however, if these fees are in the invoice amount maybe i can negotiate and not pay these fees. any help out there? thanks |
