In addition to the facelift...only the doors and roof unchanged...280HP W8 engine on board by late spring with 4MO standard... As to current status, for the West Coast the last vessel arrived from Emden with 1900 VW/Audi units on board last till late Jan. 2001. I do not know what has come into Delaware. You might want to go to VW.COM and go to the Dealer Locate section and see what comes up within a comfortable radius for you...PS |

Despite the demand for a silver/black GLX,I was able to negotiate a deal $1000 under MSRP ($28810)for auto with tiptronic. This pretty close to Edmunds TMV. I paid $100 for 4 mud guards (installed), $350 for 6 CD changer from the VW dealers parts dept and installed myself. I've owned the car 2 weeks and it is AWESOME. I shopped around to 3 different dealers, all were within $100 and not one had A GLX silver /black on the lot. My dealer had one a pre order with an ETA 6weeks....came in 3weeks early. |

| I recently purchased a Passat in NJ. Before purchasing, I went to several VW dealers in NJ. I finally purchased the car at AC VW in Jersey City NJ. Please, do yourself a favor and stay clear of this one. This is by far the worst place. I have seen the manager who works here yell and shout at customers, I havn't seen this anywhere else. I guess the cars selling well, so these guys can get away with it and still stay in business. | |

Hard cost West Coast...$25589. That includes Destination-$525, Port Prep-$117, and $350 for the CD. Hope this helps... |

should i even be concerned if the car has 5k miles on it.. and have them still charge me $200 over invoice??? they say that it's not "used" since it's never been registered.. but still. |

Check out vwvortex.com for a preview of the next incarnation of the Passat--it's right on the front page. This new "facelifted" version will be coming in the spring (the next completely new model will arrive in about 2003/4). Be careful to note, however, that there will be some differences between what is offered for the Amer/Canadian Passat versus the European version. Several key things for the Domestic model are: **Base engine will be the same 1.8T engine, but with modifications that will bump output from 150 to 170hp. **An 8-cylinder model will be available late in the year with all the bells and whistles--for 35K +. **Structural rigidity has been slightlt improved (translation: slightly better handling and maybe a few less squeaks and rattles). **There MAY be some new options available--perhaps High Intensity headlights, maybe rear side airbags, etc. These are rumors, but the actual specs should be available in a month or two. **Since VW intends to break all sales records with this new version of Passat, there will be no shortage of availability (although the new models may not arrive on the exact date projected--sometimes VW of America experiences a slight delay). **This final point means that, contrary to what VWGUILD suggests (remember, he is a VW dealer!), the new Passats will not NEED to be sold at sky high prices that allow dealers to pocket an even higher margin. But, don't think that will stop them from trying |

If the dealership put this Passat *in service* correctly as a *Demo* then they can provide you with a two part addition to your Protection Plus Warranty...This extended Warranty costs $180... they will probably step for that...deals with most of the 2yr/24K stuff...I am not sure of all of the EXACT details; we don't have *demo* cars, and the 2nd part is strictly a paper provision extending the 10/100k to provide you with that in it's entirety. This Warranty info is available thru the Service Dept. if the Sales people are unfamiliar. I have serious doubts that a senior employee at the Dealership would abuse a *Demo*. Typically it is a *perk* for Management and not given to a 17 y/o detailer, and I am sure that they would allow you to take the car for an independent "check out" if you feel unfomfortable. Good point though about depreciation...If you plan to dump this car in a year or two or three; you probably do not want to take this route. If, on the other hand you plan on keeping the car for 5 or 6 years depreciation is rather a moot point. If this car is a 2000, hard to believe, but none the less, it does, indeed, present an entirely different set of issues. The numbers that I gave you earlier were for a 2001, which we have had for months. The 5K is the shut off for VW Credit; but let me know about that. There is incentive $$ that was paid to Dealers for 2000 product. |

Passat has had *Full Curtain Side AirBag Protection Systems* installed since August...at no charge... The *market* sets prices, not Dealers or stores, the only exception to that principle, that I am aware of, would be gasoline prices, and utility prices... |
