New 2001 Passat GLX by aves

In response to sfpassat..I paid 28,810 for my new GLX (satin silver /black),very close to Edmunds TMV. I searched around to other dealers(parts dept) for a trunk 6CD changer. Since my dealer would not budge on the 425 price .I paid 350 and installed it myself which required 4 very small screws and connecting the pre-CD wire hook-up.
The vehicle was previously ordered by the dealer and I happened to come in at the right time to make the deal. They would not go lower than the above price since they can't keep aGLXsilver/blk on the lot. Hope this helps you!

Do you have any idea as to the pricing and anticipated availability of the next generation Passat. I am interested in the GLS 4 cyl with manual trans. and monsoon. How much over invoice do you think I should be looking for?

I think it will depend, as always, on availability
and demand. I do not have pricing yet only colors,
but don't look for any smokin' deals if this new look is well received. Basic supply/demand will
be the rule. Remember, the Passat is extremely
popular in Europe as well, and if they love this
new car even more, then inventories here will be
small, and then your best deal will probably be
MSRP with no Dealer Mark-up.

VW Dealer trying to rip me off? by kinkajou

I bid on a car through LiquidPrice.com. The was was a GLX for 750 over invoice. When I made the long trip (40 miles by transit) to get the car the dealer had written up my financing as a lease even though I had clearly specified that I wanted to purchase the car. It was though VW and the interest rate was about 8.25 so it wasn't that bad. Not only, that but I noticed that the car was not even a GLX. It was a GLS with the luxury package! Are VW dealers so dumb that they could be selling me the wrong model of Car, even though this was very clearly listed on the computer Bid?
Is this an honest mistake or was the dealer trying to rip me off on this? According to the lease terms the car had a $15000 resisual after 36 months. Does anybody have anything to compare this to? Needless to say, I did not buy the car but I wasted a whole day with this.

Hey all. I plan on buying a Passat GLX Wagon with 5speed manual (blue athricite/black leather)in about two-three months. Here's the kicker: Stopped by a dealer in Providence,RI today (will travel to make the right deal, just happen to be in RI right now) and, other than being generally standoffish, they stated that what they had was all they had, and no new passats until middle of next year because of restyling. So...since i have heard this mantra before with the 98/99 model year of passats, i have two questions:
Do i attempt a dealer locate in two months (early Jan) for the car i want?
Or...
Do i place an order in two months for a 2002 as i want it?
(i have seen no info saying that 2002 is anything OTHER than a face lift...no new motor/tranny etc.)

Dealer just quoted me only $100. off MSRP for a 2001 silver/gray GLX with tip-trans, and a CD player at his cost of $400 installed. Says he won't have any more and it's not fair to the other salemen to do any better on this hot item. I walked away. But I do want it! Is that really the best deal?

I just got my GLX Black with Biege, for 500 over invoice and no additional charges, just tax and tags. i have to trace 150 miles to get it but i figure it will be a good shake down dirve for the car. 100 off MSRP sounds ridiculous to me i would not pay more than 750 over invoice, no matter what crap they give you. You may have to ravel for the car, but you should be able to get a better deal. If you are looking for a CD canger, buy it and intall it yourself. The passat is pre-wired, as far as i know it is plug and play. i plan on installing mine myself i will post how the instilation goes.
