Hi John, I live in Auburn Hills and got my 2001.5 Passat GLS from Suburban VW in Troy. Here are my options: 1) Leather Package 2) Luxury Package 3) Monsoon 4) Homelink 5) Tiptronic Sticker price is $26880(destination fee already included). I got it for $24773.81. I shopped around(including Bill Cook)but Suburban gave me the best deal. I am sure they will work with you if you haggle hard enough. However, don't ever go to Fox VW in Rochester. They are a bunch of morons. I was so pissed with the way they treated me that I immediately went to VWoA HQ to file an official complaint. Can you believe that one of their salesman called me an "animal" when things didn't work out? Please let your friends and your friends' friends know, don't ever go to Fox. Sam |

Good work. I think the only time these were going for sticker was when they first came out. Shopping around will save you some bucks. Personally I think it looks great in Silver! Bill |

| I am looking at purchasing a 2001.5 GLX 5 speed with the Blue Silver exterior/black leather interior. First initial quote was $29,200. Looking at all of these other messages, that seems awful high. Any suggestions as to what I should expect to pay or offer? Hear the GLX manual is quite hard to come by. He did say they'd throw in an in dash cd player. | |
| 1 month ago in NC, I paid $27400 plus tax plus tags for a GLX 5 speed, Silverstone/Gray leather with in-dash CD. Invoice with destination charge was a little less than 26,800 including 117 for port and some other fee. 29200 is very close to MSRP. I suggest you arm yourself with the numbers and shop around. Let them know you are looking to get as close to invoice as possible. Make sure you are working from invoice up... | |

thanks, but my haggle skill still weak. i like black the most, indigo blue is good too, i prefer dark color because my previous cars are all bright colors. |

| I have been searching for a 2001.5 GLS w/tiptronic in the St. Louis area. I am interested in what others in the St Louis area have experienced. I have been to 2 dealers who want anywhere from $1200 over invoice to MSRP. I haven't begun to seriously negotiate but it seems like Passat's are in big demand in the midwest according to carsdirect who quote prices of $1 below MSRP. Besides wanting to hear from other midwesterners about their prices, I was also wondering if GLS models are available without Monsoon package which I don't want to pay for. Also is there an "advertising" cost built into the invoice for the St Louis area. If the VW dealers are not willing to negotiate more, I will probably go for a 2001 EX Honda Accord, which I will be far less excited about (although wife and wallet will be pleased) . Thanks in advance. | |

There's a dealer in St Louts with 2 WV Stores...um... they think they are a "Team". Avoid em. Try the guys in St Charles, Give Auffenberg in Belleville a try and I have heard very good things about Mid-America motors in Hazel wood. A few people from St Louts have posted that cheap deals on Passats are tough there. Even so, To me it looks like a pretty strong deal on a Passats seems to be roughly $500 or so over invoice so you're $700 apart is my guess. Certainly you can try working that down, even so, I would buy the car that I wanted for a $700 difference. There's a different supply vs demand on Passats than Honda. Also, no sedan on the market anywhere near it price wise has the resale value of a Passat. If it helps: Average nationwide inventory supply of Passats is 20 days, average discount is about $700.
