#501 of 510 1st tire rotation

cefurod, you are right ..I got my 1st oil change at 5000 miles. The tires were also rotated at the same time.
Since most of the driving was on the highway (over 95%), I figured that an oil change at 3000 miles was not necessary, and that I would follow the book's maintainance schedule, with the first recommended service point at 5000 miles.
Depending on your driving, Ford recommends a 5000/3000 mile oil change. A 3000 mie interval is recommended for severe conditions, such as stop & go driving, heavy idling and use of A/C or driving in dusty conditions.
Changing the oil more frequenly than recommended is a waste, and harmful to the environment.

I wonder how the zx3 is selling in comparison with the Golf and Civic Hatch. Anybody out there have access to this kind of peripheral information about zx3 sales?

all I can say is I tried to look at a civic hatch for comparison....the lot was FULL of new civics but not a hatch among them! I asked and they said they might get one in eventually...too late now though, my mind was made up. I'm guessing they still sell a lot of golfs though.

hi, my zx3 has the ztec motor, i visually confirmed it. the are major differences that are easily spotted. BUT, my zx3 does have the type A TRANSAXLE. that's why i responded to the posts that are having stiffness between gears. i only had mine 10-11 miles before i hit the deer but mine shifted very well. i have seen 2 other zx3 w/manual on my dealers lot and both had the ztec w/type A transaxle....no latch ring. coincidence or did ford make a change? i am still waiting to hear from ford's top engineer on this subject and will post his response as soon as i get it.

When I left for work this morning I spied another silver ZX3 like mine parked around the corner and on the same street this evening I saw a red Focus sedan. I like the red on the Sedan. Three within a block of each other, guess I'm not special anymore...:>)

Hey Norway Doug, My basic understanding of Ford's new 'world car' (da focus) was that it was designed by euros (mostly Germans), the parts were made in USA and CAN, then assembled in Mexico. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.
As for me I have a black ZX3. I like BUT
1) The steering wheel is a bit far away (I,m 6'3" with the seat all the way back)
2) It makes a REAR THUMPING NOISE over rough pavement. Does anyone else notice this????
3) No cruise.
Other than that I think we all have a good car that's been gettin' me thru these Colorado mountains in STYLE!

As you may know, our conferencing software can become unstable after a topic has more than 500 posts. Let's continue our conversation in Ford Focus - Part III. See you there!
