#86 of 95 9.3 price change by wblatson

Hi Katie,

I saw your post in SaabNet and replyed there also. I think you are talking about the Financial Times story and I think that may have been talking about the U.K. market. Don't know if it applies to North America. We can only hope. I'm watching prices on 9.3s also.

Has anyone gotten a dealer to admit that the $4,500 manufacturer-to-dealer incentive exists on the 9.3 5 door SE? Which dealers in the states are offering the below Invoice prices?

#87 of 95 '98 900SE vs. '99 9-3S by vxk11

Dec 12, 2000 (11:35 pm)

I have two questions:

1. What would be your choice between a '98 900SE vs. a '99 9-3? Both are similarly equipped. The '99 has about 2.5 years of warranty left, whereas the '98 only about 10 months.

2. Any suggestions on the tartet price?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

vxk11, have you taken a look at our Used Car pricing? From that link, select that maker and year, then model. You may also want to look at our Used Vehicle Appraiser which is on the upper right corner of the home page. I believe these tools, plus the responses you get here, will be very helpful to you.

#89 of 95 Saab '95 S Hatchback by ny2brazil

Feb 10, 2001 (4:36 pm)

I'm considering buying a 1995 Saab S hatchback with 60,000 miles that is listed for $8,600. I'm a little hesitant because of rumors about the reliability (or lack thereof) of Saabs. I really like the car, only, I don't want to pay a fortune fixing it. Any suggestions?

#90 of 95 Saab Viggen by jyogi

Feb 12, 2001 (1:49 am)

Hi Everyone.
I need some help here... About to try and purchase a Saab again, had a 92 that was a dream. I am looking at the Viggen, I see some great prices out there and need some help seeing what a Viggen would run, I can get GM Option 1 and am hoping that as well as the fact that they are chaging the body next year and pushing the 9-3's out. Does anyone know or can anyone figure out/find out the price of a:

2001 Saab Viggen 3 door
Black and heated seats.
36 mth lease 15,000 miles per year 2500 down GM Option 1.

If not I guess I am either going to end up getting a Jetta GLX or trying to extend my lease on a 1999 2 door Tahoe Sport. I guess I'd rather get a VW or stick with my big monster rather than get the smaller engine in the 9-3 coupe.

#91 of 95 Saab Hatchbacks in Snow by sstastny

How's your Saab experience in the snow?

Saabs seem to have an excellent reputation for control in snow conditions, but I have been having a hell of a time. I own a '97 3-Door Saab 900 SE Turbo, which I bought used last August, 2000. Because I caught a nail in one of the front tires early last fall, I replaced both front wheels with high performance, all-season Michelin tires. (I was assured they were "great" in the snow too.) But I can't get up not-so-steep driveways, I need a push in snow-covered parking lots (maybe 3 inches does me in), I've skidded through stop signs into the intersection (yes! I tried downshifting first!) or I have even gotten stuck in my own flat driveway where my wheels are spinning and I can't move without the help of a push. Last weekend, I hit a patch of snow on an otherwise clear highway that sent the car skidding dangerously, side to side, until somehow I managed to regain control.

My neighbor also has a '97 Saab and has mentioned that it is not good in snow, although I need to quiz her further on this.

I also have a friend who owns an older Saab--maybe a '93--that still has the old Saab frame. She told me that she can stop her Saab on a dime on a sheet of ice. I'm thinking that Saabs USED TO be good in snow and their reputation just hasn't caught up to reality yet.

Has anyone out there had similar problems? Did you find a solution and what is it? (cinder blocks in the trunk? don't drive in snow?)Any recommendations for snow tires?

Thanks very much!

"Saab must be doing something right..., two Scab models, the 9-3 and the 9-5, received top honors from EuroNCAP"

From Edmunds.com Focus on Safety section: Saab's Real-Life Crash Testing Pays Off by Scott Memmer. What do you think?
