Might it be a 5-door?

This is interesting: I noticed that the wiper stalk has a "rear wiper" control. Might this be a 5-door hatch model, with the rear wiper tucked down under the rear deck lip and out of sight?

Bob sent me the pics, and I saw the switch he's talking about, which is weird...
The back window has a slight gap, but I don't think it's big enough for a wiper to tuck away.
Maybe it's for the wagon and they just forgot to take that out? Or it's JDM?
I don't think the concept has a rear wiper.

Yes, other than the cosmetics, the Legacy and OB are the same vehicle; however, Subaru didn't market the two vehicles this way. The OB is supposed to be the outdoorsy, crossover vehicle. So much so that the "Legacy" name was dropped in 2000 and the (over) cladding appeared along with the two-tone paint. To further distinguish between the two vehicles, Subaru completely dropped the wagon from the lineup in 2008. Assuming that Subaru continues with the OB line (they would be stupid not to), how does this Legacy sedan concept translate? I don't know. The "evolved" Legacy is much more Impreza-like than outdoorsy. If Subaru moves away from the cross-over image for the OB, it might as well release a sporty Legacy wagon. But the fact is that the OB sold MUCH better than the Legacy wagon here in the U.S. Subaru has alot riding on the OB redesign.

Looks like a little Audi influence in the grill area. And maybe a wee bit from the Chrysler 500 (or was it the 300.. )

there is the issue of 2.5 inches more ground clearance for the Outback. Given recent weather, that's not just cosmetic.

The seats are also mounted higher.
I once measured. The Outback's seats, even at the lowest position, were a full 4" higher off the ground than in our Legacy.
So the seats are raised up 1.5" taller as well.

oh that's right, because the roof is blistered. I forgot about that. Even on our '99 it is. Although we swapped in 2.5RS seats....but the extra height is in the drill holes, not in the seats themselves.

It appears to be the production version of the Legacy wagon. The car appears to be considerably longer than the current Legacy/Outback wagon. Now if only we could get a larger image...

I bet not for us. We probably get stinking Outback only, while the rest will get both.
