I do agree on the Infiniti G35/37 visual like. We don't agree on the chrome issue.

Perhaps they'll save the chrome for the Limiteds.

On the Forester, only the LTD gets chrome door handles, I believe.

Nice to see that the Legacy is getting a bit bigger. This is one of my gripes with my 2001 OB VDC...for such a long car, it doesn't have much interior room, especially regarding width.

Re. the looks: I don't know. The reaction that I have been reading is a bit Tribecaesqe, i.e., very polarized. I personally don't care for the front, which is a not very original amalgam of Audi, Acura, and Infiniti. It also looks a bit front heavy, but I'd have to see it in person.

I'll be very interested in seeing what the 2010 Outback looks like. I have great difficulty envisioning how the Legacy concept translates. Also, there is a rumor at cars101 (Joe Spitz's website) that the Legacy and Outback will NOT have the 3.6l engine this year.

Keeping the 3.0l H6 would be a mistake. It's now underpowered for the class, and it wants premium fuel. They need the 3.6l pronto.

I noticed all the size increases, too. Looks like it gained about 3 inches in every direciton (length, width, even height). So it should feel a lot bigger inside.

First thing that came to my mind was Altima/G37 and then a Ford truck or Caddy grill which I'm not a big fan of, but don't hate.

From what I've heard, the 3.0 is going away.

Well, hmm.

I will reserve my final judgement for the wagon, which is my preferred body style, but the exterior of the car is okay to my eye. Not fantastic, but I am not repulsed. It is "typical modern." The interior, though, is disappointing. I love the apparent room in the rear seats - the style of the front seats really serves to enhance rear leg (knee) room. But, Subaru should have stuck closer to the gorgeous interior of the Tribeca (which was done nicely on the Impreza and Forester). This concept's interior is blocky, disjointed.

I look forward to seeing more. I hope a wagon is revealed before too long. The look of that Legacy, in direct translation, would not work well on an Outback.

I agree. The last generation Outback was pretty much a slightly stylized, raised Legacy wagon, which ironically, was pretty close to what the original mid/late 1990s Outback was, i.e., a Legacy wagon with cladding and an outdoorsy image courtesy of Paul Hogan. The early 2000s Outback were a bit more unique. It will be interesting to see what the 2010 Outback looks like.

actually, the Outback didn't get cladding until 2000 and the departure of Paul Hogan. Outback hasn't ever been anything more than a straight up Legacy wagon with a raised suspension and 2 tone paint. And body cladding from 2000-2004

(yes, there is a leetle cladding from 2004 I know, but it's just along the rocker panel, not the half-the-door treatment from before)

Might it be a 5-door? by rsholland

This is interesting: I noticed that the wiper stalk has a "rear wiper" control. Might this be a 5-door hatch model, with the rear wiper tucked down under the rear deck lip and out of sight?
