So, everything in moderation.. It is working even better than I hoped.. One big change: I won't drink beer that I don't love.. I'm not wasting calories on Miller Lite or Coors Light.. That allows me to drink even more Newcastle or Paulaner Hefe-weizen...

Replying to: xwesx (Jan 14, 2009 12:50 pm) At 50 yrs old, the amount of calories needed to maintain my weight, given my sedentary lifestyle is infinitesimally small... I started walking to the school and back from my house.. It's 2.3 miles roundtrip, and I knock it out in 34-37 minutes.. Since the first 3/10ths miles is pretty steep uphill, it is a decent workout... I try to get it in at least 3 days per week... I'd attribute a lot my weight loss to the exercise... Not necessarily the calories burned, but the consequent increase in metabolism... Again, I tried to do something that I could stick with... A lot of little things have made the difference...

Good news, though, is that I decided to start playing organized broomball again. I have to take advantage of the relatively low fuel prices while they stick around! |
