That sounds fantastic, Bob; I'm excited for you! A friend of mine recently purchased a 2.5i manual Impreza, so I have had the opportunity to ride in it a few times; my first time in a Subaru of any kind since selling the '08 Outback in February. The new iteration of Impreza has a wonderful, familiar interior. It is better laid out, I think, than the 05-09 Legacy/Outback. Riding in it has started me thinking about owning another Subaru, even though I will still to wait another 2-3 years. It is going to be a long wait. The more I think about it, I would love to get a WRX, STI, or XT (GT, if they go back to the Legacy wagons in the next generation), but I think my wife would shoot me down on that one; or, she might just shoot me and take the car.

Anyway, I am glad to hear that it is working out for you.

Well, you having driven a new WRX, I am very jealous. How did it compare to the old model in sedate driving? I had a concern that the bigger turbo might make it prone to bogging off the line if one is sloppy with the clutch. The reviews about the new level of handling is what has my attention.
I should be getting my test drive next week, but I can't wait!!!! Tell me, tell me now!Unfortunately I am now thinking that the WRB coming in might look a little "racer-boy" for my style, and was thinking that the car looks amazing in Dark Grey Metallic and very understated. Any idea which colour you might get?

The new generation Imprezas are much more refined than the older models. Also for '09 they've added rear fender liners to further quell road noise.

Compared to my 2.5 '06 WRX, the bottom end power seems to be about the same, although I was told it may be a tad less. It does come on stronger at around 3K though, and stays strong right up to redline. The old model seemed to go flat after 5K or so, not this new '09 model. C&D just posted a 4.7 second 0-60—so yeah, it's quick! http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/evo_wrx_zone/2009- - _subaru_impreza_wrx_short_take_road_test?cid=338 The steering seemed a bit more responsive as well_and the slot car handling is back for '09.

It's like they took every aspect of the old-generation car, and made each tiny item just a tad better and/or a bit more refined. For example, there are a bunch more speeds available on the intermittent front wiper. The moonroof has an auto-open and auto-close feature. The rear wiper now has a fixed and intermittent speed. I could go on, put you get the point.

As to color? Either white, dark gray or black are my first choices.

Bob

Nope but I have been incredibly busy since we closed, not much time to sit on the computer.

   Cheers Pat,

moonroof has an auto-open and auto-close feature

Thank goodness, that is one of the few complaints I have about the 04 I have - that you have to sit there on the button for what feels like forever to open and close it.

Alittle late here but...

Bob, sorry about your mishap but I'm glad to read you are ok and things are coming around for you.

Serge, my condolences to you and your family. Keep your spirits and head up. I'm sure your Mom would've told you the same thing.

Mark, sorry to hear about your job lay off after 22+ yrs. This economy is doing a number on us. Especially those doing contract work (like me). Finished my contract and now looking for work.

Let's stay positive folks.. We'll get passed this

Thanks for the thoughts folks. It's been a bit crazy and all but we are hanging in there.

Bob- if you are looking at the Garmin's there is a new series just coming out, the 755T and up that now has lane assist, 2 types of traffic and routes (something I miss on my 370). They keep on improving the systems so by the time you are ready, and with the way the economy is going, you should do pretty well price wise. If you go to http://gpsinformation.net/ there are some links to some good retailers.

Brenda- hope everything is going along well with your folks.

Elm- good to hear from you and sorry to hear about your contract running out. My wife is in the same situation. Her contract ran out awhile a go and was taking it easy until now. Now she's been applying to everything she finds, as well as asking the consulting company for any openings.

As my Mom used to say, I'll take it one day at a time" and not go crazy.

I think I'll be waxing the rims on the winter tires this week so they can be ready for the swap out at Mike's place.

Hang in there everyone!
Mark
