Throttle by wire works far better with an auto in my opinion. It has little "driver" benefit with a manual transmission. So that's probably what he noted. I also think the throttle response is better with the 5EAT, in either car. Craig

the torque converter's ability to freewheel a bit allows the turbocharger to spool faster. if you're cruising at low RPM and nail the throttle, this is immediately obvious. ~c

But doesn't the turbo require a load to spool? Does a TC freewheeling provide enough load? Ken

Just curious if anyone has given any thought to doing the tour at SIA plant in the future. I know we had bad timing back in June, but I am curious if the group intends to try and give it another shot. Believe it or not, we are already looking at the '05 calendar at work for days off! The only Subaru type of event I'm aware of at this time is the 48hrs run Jan 6 - 9. That's a loooong drive with 2 kids. Their limit is about 3-4 hours before they get fussy and need to stop. Maybe if I had a Tribeca with a built-in DVD. -juice

I know it is a long, direct drive. Maybe split it up over a couple of days? I'm just trying to get an idea. Mark

I'd be interested still in the trip to the 'factory' ... also .. I had hesitated to say it in the forum, but we had word about a month ago that my son-in-law (who was slated to go to Iraq in July and was for some unknown reason left on post with his family) was again scheduled to go within the first couple of weeks of November. My daughter and her boys were already planning to come stay with us - probably after Thanksgiving - until he came back. She called today and left a message (again who can say what the logic of the US Army is) that for now .. he is again off the list to go ... that she's sorry she won't be seeing us every day .. but so happy he will be staying with his family ... I do feel for all those families with loved ones in Iraq and elsewhere in the world, but I am selfishly glad that he is not going ... I believe it will not be available to the public for a bit. Since production will be starting on the new model, I think they shut it down. I'll check on when the shut down occurs and we can talk from there. Not sure if I can attend with the number of irons I have in the fire at work, but we'll see!
