Harmony and I had a great weekend in the mountains this weekend, camping and hiking in Shenandoah and then spending a night in a 5-star hotel with a fancy dinner (talk about a packing nightmare to handle all those extremes). The weather was perfect, the foliage was perfect, and we had a wonderful time. Then, Monday morning as we are checking out, I notice that someone clobbered the driver's door on my new XT with their bumper!! Yeesh! Not a good way to end a nice weekend. All said, it's minor -- about a 6" horizontal crease in the sheetmetal, one pucker in the sheetmetal, and paint scraped off the lower cladding and door trim. It looks worse than it is. I am hoping I can get away with paintless dent repair and touchup, since no paint was scraped off the sheetmetal. I know it would probably be a $700-1000 repair / door repaint if I went to a traditional body shop. Hotel security took some photos, and hinted that their insurance might cover the repair, so we'll see how it works out.
