Replying to: bluesubie (Aug 11, 2004 5:58 am) I still strongly disagree about your conclusion that 5w30 M1 was the cause of your noise. If it sounded dry, it probably was very low on oil. That's not the 5w30's fault... Did you check the dipstick on level ground before switching to 10w30, or if you changed it yourself did you notice how much fluid went into your drain pan? PS, the temp chart doesn't account for synthetics. Since you went to Mobil's site to get that flow number, you should've noticed that the metrics for their 10w30 and 5w30 are not that different. (Compare to 0w40 for example.) ~c

That's only the Expressway [Cross Bronx] :o) When you get into the city, you'll soon hear this voice coaxing you, "Run Them Over... Come On You Know You Want To... Run Them Over!!!" -Dave

Replying to: hypov (Aug 11, 2004 7:36 am) in the city there is a consistency to the maddness. i find driving in the city easier then when i meet granny with the purple hair in the burbs. people in the city are predictable in their scramble, granny, geez i have no clue what she is gonna do. |

The run across the Cross Bronx reminded me of my years in Rochester at something that was called the Can of Worms. Used to be three highways coming together at the same point, requiring a cross of 4-5 lanes in what FELT like 50 feet. Aggressive driving was truly needed, or drivers would never get where they needed to be. We have almost no traffic problems here in Erie, so it was a real change of pace. I found it strange that there was a toll across the GWB into LI, but not on the way back. Not counting the toll by Throgs Neck. At least I think it was there. And yeah, the drivers this trip were at predictable. I just drove assuming EVERYONE was looking to cut me off. Safer that way, and was pretty accurate. <g> -Dan- |

Yep, you guys just keep reminding me how nice it is to live in a medium sized city with no Expressways. My house sits on a 1/3 of an acre, backs onto forest, on a perfect day I can drive to the city centre in 8 minutes, and on a bad day I get stopped at all 4 traffic lights. Then again, the value of my house wouldn't buy a garden shed around NY or DC. Nicholas |

Maybe I should sell my shed to raise funds for a new turbo? 10'x12', electrical power, two fixed skylights and 6 windows, 2 that open. Insulation is weak but it does sit on a concrete slab. How much do you think it's worth? -juice |
