to keep track of those important Cougar "dates"!

Currently there are two CSG events in the planning
stages.  The first is a CSG meet in Lake Placid,
New York.  So far we have at least 10 members who
will be gathering at Lake Placid for the weekend of
July 23rd and 24th.

The second event, Cougar Fest Y2K will occur
sometime in late August or early September... Ford
Motor Company is sponsoring this event at the Flat
Rock Michigan Cougar assembly plant.  Cougar owners
from across the country will be gathering at the
plant to tour the facility, meet with the Cougar
design team, and network with each other.  A number
of vendors will be there offering their products
and services to all who attend.

So post your events and plans here!

On Saturday April 29th Jimbo and I will be attending the annual New York City Auto Show. We are going to meet at the Javits Center and spend the day meandering through the show. Afterward the plan is to grab a bite to eat and just chill out.

If anyone is interested in going with us, please let us know so we can make the proper arrangements.

Thanks!

Rob and Jimbo: Hows about swingin' by Milwaukee and pickin me up??

I'm kidding of course, but keep your eyes open at the auto show - here in Milwaukee, I laid my eyes on this concept car...a reissue of the Dodge Charger, complete with metallic orange paint....I don't know if any of you are muscle car enthusiasts here, but OOOOOHHHHH baby was that a fine lookin' car...(taking exception, of course, for our Cougars).

I have seen the concept charger and it is a GREAT looking car. A 4 door muscle car, and the concept runs on natural gas.

From what I understand they are currently reworking the engine to run on petrol, and are hoping to introduce it to the public in the next two - three years.

I agree as well the concept charger is sweeeeet! Chrysler has sure made a huge turn around since the days of the infamous K car. And as Badulah hinted it seems like they'll build it. Chrysler may not be the best manufacturer in terms of quality, but they certaintly gave the auto world a shot in the arm when they started turning their wildly awesome concept cars into true production vehicles. It started with the Viper then Prowler, now the PT cruiser and some may argue the LH cars as well (intrepid, concorde,300m, & LHS)... You maybe even have to wonder; without Chrysler's boldness would we have cars as beautifully styled as the Cougar or the Audi TT?

Well, I guess I have to disagree with one point only - the Audi TT looks like a smooshed jelly bean. And I'm not nuts about the PT cruiser, though I've seen a few on the road and they seem popular with the masses. I must say, however, that the Viper, Prowler, and the Charger are masterpieces in their own rights. Who knows? Maybe I'll hafta have one of those Chargers as a "weekend" car. Any ideas on cost for them yet, Rob??

You are entitled to your own opinion:-) I don't think there's any pricing info yet on the charger...A while back they did an article on it in Motor Trend where they guessed that if it was built, it would compete with the Camaro/Firebird & Mustang so i'd guess around $27,000 or so. That's just my guess.

Lake Placid Info by fastback2

Got back yesterday night from my trip to VT. On Friday, I drove through Lake Placid and stopped off to check out both the KOA Kampground and the North Pole Campground and Motor Inn (found in the camping section at www.lakeplacid.com). The KOA Kampground lodging ranges from tent sites to full-featured log cabins with kitchens & bathrooms. I asked what was available during the weekend of July 22-23 and it turns out that some of their kamping kabins (essentially 1-2 bunkrooms with a roof and a porch) and the log cabins are currently available. I also stopped off at the North Pole place but they were closed and I was unable to check out their sites(the fact that it was pouring rain didn't help either. The weather last weekend was basically lousy). At this point I recommend going with the KOA Kampground as it appears to be in a more woodsy location and is closer to Lake Placid. I also would suggest going with a couple of Kamping Kabins as they are cheaper and have a more generous cancellation policy (72 hour minimum advance notice as opposed to 30 days). Also, the road from the campground to Lake Placid is a real hoot to drive in the cougar. I would advise all to check out KOA's website (www.koakampground.com) and let me know what you think. We will need to make the reservations within a week or so to assure getting the cabins.

I also found a mountain bike shop just west of Lake Placid which rents bikes(a copy of their rate sheet can be had at http://www.ggw.org/xvlfafe/images/bikerent.jpg). They also happen to rent full suspension mountain bikes as well, which could come in real handy for those downhill runs at nearby Whiteface mountain.
