#119 of 1081 Wonderful loaner experiences...

Badulah -- in a KIA?
There is a god. He's the same guy that employed the devil to assign Badulah to a Kia. A purple one at that. Help -- I've fallen over laughing, wet my pants in hysteria, and I can't get up!
Seriously, though, I don't know where you people are going to for service. My dealership is pretty stupid sometimes when it comes to putting things back together, but they're the best aronud when loaners are involved.
My dealership's loaners -- all 1998-1999 Mercury Sables -- are $12/day if you call soon enough for a service appointment, and free except for taxes if you're having to come back for a second try at a repair. They eat the cost of the rental in that second case.
If you own a Lincoln LS, then you get a Lincoln LS loaner. Period. Nothing but taxes. I'm still trying to pretend that I'm driving the LS when I come in for service. Haven't tricked 'em yet.
When they run out of loaners, you're SOL. Or so I thought. I set an appointment a week early last week, and I was told no loaners available for the day I'd set. When I came in, I was in a perdicament -- just back from week long trip out-o-town, doctor's appointment, mail to pick up, bills to pay. I needed a car.
Upon request, I was given a salesperson's loaner (get to know the general sales manager, if he's not a greaser) -- brand new, teal 2000 Mercury Sable with the 24-valve V-6. Only needed it through lunchtime, and the guy encouraged me to listen to his Garth Brooks CDs. All I asked for was a demo. That 24-valve engine should be in EVERY Cougar -- it moved, even with the auto tranny.
Poor Badulah -- stuck in his purple Kia...
P.S. -- Thanks for the TSB notice.

Yeah!!...I beat a Dodge Avenger today on my way back home, and he even was 1/2 car length ahead of me at the light! No match. = )

stageleft: the name of the movie was either "vision of echos" or "echo of visions" and the cameo was about 1.7 seconds long...

My first full day with my Cat. Still in love. One question though. The one thing they didn't show me when I picked her up is how to adjust the lumbar support. I have looked in all the usual placed, the side of the seat, back, front. Help! The support is on and too high up for my back. How do I release it?
Re: Screensaver, I'll check with some of my Silicon Valley North friends (they like to prove they've earned the rep)and one or two of them owe me favours.
Re: The new cup holders. I got one in mine and I haven't tried yet but I think they snap out and can be tossed in the dishwasher for cleaning. They are a little awkward.

camelard: The lumbar support "dial" is located between the back-rest portion of the seat and center console. You may have to move the bucket to get at it. This feature comes with bucket seats included in the sport package. I do not know if it is available in standard.

Ack! That Kia reminds me of another "car" called the Treblant, an eastern european rig where drivers spent more time pushing it than driving it. As far as screensavers are concerned, I know that there are programs which make it relatively easy to import graphic files into a screensaver format(for free software check out www.passtheshareware.com and www.freeware.com) Also there is a website(www.webshots.com) which specializes in screensavers.
#125 of 1081 My radio don't do it...
Jun 15, 2000 (12:47 pm)
I keep hearing you guys talk about running the radio with no key in. The manual says I can with the radio I've got, but mine doesn't. Is there a trick to this? Could the dealer/factory have miswired the thing?
Jun 15, 2000 (1:46 pm)
The only way I know how to get the radio on without the key in is to turn it off, then back on again, and it turns on.
Thanks for the links, I'll check them out and work with Dasaint on getting something put together so we can represent the CSG when we are away from our computers.
I've got to check a few things out, but I'll get back with you on building that screensaver. Thanks for the idea, and the offer.
"Stir of Echoes"! Sounds like a bad Toyota commercial now that I think about it! LOL! Thanks for sparking that thought.
You're a member. No need for clarification, you own a Cougar, you contribute here, what more is there? Glad to have you aboard!
Glad to have you all here! Everyday I check the posts, and everyday it seems we support each other more and more. Badulah and I should have more information very soon on the status of the CSG and the URL, I like all the suggestions that have come in so far, keep 'em coming!
Take care, and Happy Cougaring!

I've tried everything I can think of.
a. Turn off radio, shut off car and remove key, push radio button...nothing.
b. Shut off car with radio on. Remove key. Push power button...nothing.
c. Shut off car, leave key in acc position. Turn off radio. Remove key. Press power button...nothing.
d. Leave radio on. Shut off car and remove key. Push power button...nothing.
Well, you get the idea. Is this a feature that can be disabled in the radio like the internal clock? Maybe the dealer disabled it.

Haven't heard from MWS in a several days. Hope he didn't get the axe.
