RMD371: Congrats on your new purchase and welcome to the CSG!! For the money, the Cougar is truly one of the best sports coupes on the market today. When you get some time, be sure to check out the CSG main topic, "Cougar Support Group - A New Start". Topic #3 in the clubs conference. And also be sure to check out our official web site at: http://home.att.net/~cougarsupportgroup Again, welcome to the CSG!! |

| RMD, welcome aboard! Congrats on your decision to buy a great automobile! | |
| Cougar sales are dropping and there is now talk about it disappearing after 2003. What do all of you think. Check numerous automotive news sources, incuding Edmunds for the reports. | |

I only learned about the Cougar by seeing on on the road. That is the least likely way a person will know about the car, as the nameplate is hard to read from further than ten feet away. Thank goodness my sister knew what the car was by sight! If FoMoCo would make some exciting commercials about the Cougar, I feel sure sales would pick up. I know that the car gets a lot of admiration at work, and when I am driving around. I did my part for 2000...now it is up to Ford! Rick |

Do you have website addresses or links to sources that say the Cougar will disappear in 2003? There's been lots of talk lately here at CSG regarding the demise of the Cat. But where are these articles?? Well, if Cougar does disappear after 2003, it won't be the first time it did. It'll probably reincarnate as something else. Imagine a '05 2-seater, convertible Cougar riding in the same chassis as the Ford T-bird. That would be pretty cool, wouldn't it!!! Then again, being that this is Mercury we're talking about, maybe it'll be a minivan or something. |

Or a big stretch Cougar, or maybe the SUV Mountain Cougar. (Rolls his eyes) |

I could definately see the Cougar as a convertible, in fact, I have an artist concept somewhere showing that very thing. From that early article, they were talking about introducing it in 2003, but last I heard that design was scrapped. Oh well. I really don't think they should base the next gen Cougar on the new T-Bird though. It would end up being the red-headed step-child to the great flyer like it was in the '80's - 97. |

Awww, fredly, look what you did....now I want one!!! Hey MWS, can you have them build one for me? Or I can have my 2000 altered -- aftermarket convertible tops, anyone? |
|
|
The ragtop Cougar looks SCHWEET! But an aftermarket install would be sooo hard to do. I mean...the roof cut off, the rear windows and hatch....what sort of trunk does it have? This job could only be done at the factory....but I WANT one! Cheers! Rick |
