All: Allow me to open this topic with my world Famous Ken Smith story. I don't have the time right now to go in to detail, but I will tell you this: DO NOT BUY A SINGLE THING FROM THIS DEALER........ EVER!!!! I can not stress this enough. As most of you know (and half the world by now) they damaged my window tint while doing some recall work. They admitted to doing the damage, but refused to fully compensate me for it. The staff at Ken Smith is rude, obnoxious, and down right mean. I have never seen such blatant disreguard for customer care in my entire life. Thank you for listening to me rant. (steps off his soap box and leaves the room) |

As far as the buying experience, it's pretty much like any dealership -- the price is in the haggle. Nice staff, though (bought me the obligatory Coke). The service department, however is outstanding. They assign you to one service manager, so you don't have to re-explain things to a whole lot of different people if you happen to have to bring it in more than once. They treat you well, and take care of the cars well, so I've never been worried about it's safety on overnight stays. They have a rental car place built-in, so for those of you who did not get the extended warrantee with the loaner included can still get to work on time if you have to drop it off in the morning. I've had a positive experience ever since I bought my car, and I'd like to recommend this dealership to anyone in the DC metro area, check out www.cherner.com |

| Manhattan L/M dealer in NYC. Bad! Bad! Bad! They offered me a good price, seemed trustworthy, but they promised what they couldn't deliver. Told me the car would be in 4-6 weeks. After 6 weeks, I found out that the car had not been built, couldn't even give me a VIN number. Liar, Liar, pants on fire. Well that did it for me, I cancelled my order with a little push and shove from Eric the sales manager, and went someone else with my tail between my legs. | |

After my experience with Manhattan L/M, I was ready to call it quits. However, I knew that I had to have this car. So, I continued on my journey to search for my CAT. I found Courtesy L/M,Bronx, NY in the AAA magazine as one of there recommended hassle free dealers. The dealership was a bit far from where I lived, but I took the drive anyway. As luck would have it, they had a Spruce Green Cougar that was due to arrive in 2 weeks with everything I wanted, except the sunroof. He offered me a good price on a dealer installed sunroof that scrolls all the way. I signed the paper and two weeks later I was in my Cougar. It's been wonderful since then. I've only taken her in for a maintenance run (change oil and new car inspection as they call it). So far, their service dept is good. HONORABLE MENTION: New Rochelle L/M (NEW ROCHELLE, NY) which was recommended by Autobytel. I probably would have bought the Cougar from them if they had what I was looking for. The Autobytel Manager at the dealership, Angelo Gallo, was very courteous and helpful with all my questions and concerns. |

badulah or stageleft:If you do decide to list good and bad dealerships on your web site (which is great btw) make sure to include Franklin Park Lincoln Mercury in Toledo, Ohio as one of the good ones. They've been great. Found my car in 4 days and I got a great deal. Of course, I haven't picked up the car yet . . . maybe my opinion will change tomorrow. ~Compliments of Ferrywhistle |

| let me add Jackson Auto Group to the list of BAD dealers also. if anyone else from Hawaii reads this, sorry. but unless youre REALLY deperate for the cougar, or dont mind paying near MSRP prices, then hey, go with them. otherwise your only other choice is to order online. even ordering from the factory through this hawaii dealer was near MSRP price, so DONT ORDER THROUGH THEM OR FROM THEM!!! | |
|
oh yeah also not to mention that if there is ANY customer rebates out for the cougar, they wont pass it on to you...the customer...because the "manager wants to keep the profit for himself." at least thats what my sales rep told me. HE WANTS TO KEEP YOUR REBATE AS HIS PROFIT!!! geez talk about dumb. oh yeah, mws has talked to the regional sales office that handles hawaii on this rebate issue, so m-a-y-b-e, the problem will be resolved. heres hoping! but thank the stars that mws is here on our side. |

Rick Starr LM in Ft.Pierce, Fl is good. Fast inexpensive service, and they haven't lied to me yet. I'd buy from them again. |

Arlington Hts., Il. Good experience. Little hassle on the deal (mostly on the trade value), and, after the long wait for delivery (caused by Mercury's messed up rollout plan), excellent co-operation by the service dept. Good, clean service dept., and repairs/service done on time and without any damage. Tell 'em I sent you!! Skip G.. |
