I have a odd question. I have once before owned a 1986 Mercury Cougar. fought to buy it for $1000.00 and finally got it. I loved that car with all my glory, waxing it daily, washing it daily, no food in the car. The horse power and feel of the car was every thing I wished for. Until some lil sweet old lady ran a red light and completely tore my dream car from me. The car was a write off, and now...I am despertly seeking another Cougar...older, fixer upper..something reventltly cheap as well. I enjoy working on restorations anyway. I am in Canada, so if one is available for sale in Canada area, would be a bonus...I currently have a 88 beretta...nice little sports car...but no offence...I really like that cute lil logo...what was it...Something about piss on chev? lol...I really dislike chev...considering the price it is for parts....for example...a digital dash odmeter..over $800.00...a netural safety switch...over $80.00....The joy of pushing the button at the wreckers....they pay me....lol but, back to my question...is there actually a Cougar out there availible? Like I said, odd question.

Hi guy(girl?)! The color was called "Merlino Blue". There were more of them made than the color I had which was "Ash Gold Metallic". Anyhow, finding used body parts in the right color will probably be hard to do. However, any good body shop will be able to read the paint code off of your vin# and do whatever painting would be required. My old dealer's body shop was able to match the paint perfectly 3 times over the years that I had my 'Cat'. SkipG

#799 of 799 2002 Merc. Cougar V6 draining coolant
by martykyj

Need some help. I raised the Merc. about 3 inches off the ground by putting (2) 2x8's under each tire. I removed the skirting under the car to get access to the radiator drain plug. I drained the radiator. About (3) quarts was drained. This is a 10 quart system. Any suggestion on how to drain the (7) quarts in the engine block? I was thinking of removing the thermostat and pumping the fluid out with a pump attached to a drill. How do the repair garages do it? Thanks for any suggestions.
