If it is not the sparkplug nor the wire... then the ignitor coil is the only thing left in the circuit.

Oftentimes, crud built up on the surface of the coil can cause problems. It may be worthwile to REMOVE AND CLEAN the coil in hot soapy water. (I use an old dishpan, dishsoap and toothbrush for this.) Rinse well and allow to dry in the sun. Inspect for cracks (the most common failure-mode for an ignition coil) Some folks have had good luck sealing cracks with automotive silicone sealant.

Given the price of an ignition-coil, it may be worth the effort to try.

20055 Jetta Transmission Question by ealbs21

My Automatic 2005 Jetta which i recently bought from a VW dealership, has a huge issue going from reverse to drive. The car jerks and bucks slightly every time i put the car into drive. Sometimes the RPMs go up and the car doesn't go anywhere and then suddenly jerks forward or it doesn't catch at all and just glides until i pull over and restart it. The dealership says the computer is Fine and the car is working normally and couldn't duplicate the problem but that its normal for jettas to do this.It doesnt happen all the time and doesn't depend on the temperature. Anyone else heard of issues like this or have any ideas because im having trouble believing all Jettas have this problem.

A dealership told me it was the terminals on my battery, i am not to sure how that would be connected for the fact that the car doesnt use the battery when it is running it is the alternator. The tightened my terminals and things were fine for a few months and now its doing it again. I have had both the alternator and the battery tested and they came back fine, the only thing i can think of is a bad ground. I will keep doing research and let you know if i find anything and i would appreciate it if you could to the same. If anyone else on this form has advice please help us.

i had a 2002 Jetta with the same issues, the dealership told me the same thing...well over a few month guess what happens? my transmission gets fried, i take it in they put a new one in and i still have the issues. they told me that it was normally, of course i didnt take to that kindly being that what caused my transmission to go out on me. They looked at it again and told me it was a bad transmission control module that caused my car to shift wrong. $600 to replace and alot cheaper than a transmission. they gave me that same story " we cant reduplicate the issue and its a normal thing to do and everything in your car checks out"

by law... Odometer must show up AT ALL TIMES... even with key removed.

Hope that helps you...

Are you sure about that requirement, because in my 2007 Mazda6 the odometer does not show up when the car is off. It comes on only when the key is in and turned and I am pretty sure that it has alway operated that way. (I just went out and confirmed this, no OD until key was turned part way and accessories also came on)

Interesting, perhaps the law has been changed? At one time, the law was very specific about being able to determine the mileage on a vehicle without having key available.

I wonder if the law now allows for electrical-connection to the ODBII connector to get OD readings? The advent of onboard computers has really changed the automotive industry.

I have 2007 Wolfsburg with 17k. Yesterday the car overheated and battery light was on. I drove to the service immediately. Today they call me and tell that someome had changed alternator before and it is not any more under warranty and since this problem was caused by that I have to pay for alternator, belt, and propably water pump which costs more than 700. My question is: I bought the car a month ago and I went to the service with the car and they told me that the car is under warranty. Now this happens. Does it help if I call the service center of Volkswagen? Does the dealer who sold me this car have any responsibility? They sold me the car saying that it is under warranty but now it does not mean anything.
I am asking these questions because I just moved here and do not know how the system works here...
