98' Q 45. Passenger heated seat dosen't work, had dealer repair problem twice, they insist it's O.K., however still no heat.Anyone else have this problem.Driver seat heats up just fine.

Just remember that these cars are quite depressed on the used car market, so be sure you know the going rate for one and don't overpay...resale value is quite low on these cars, which makes them a bit of a bargain actually.

The lower per year resale [$5,000] compared to others [LS,etc] in part is because the higher mileage units [after 70k warranty] tend to have some expensive issues that must be addressed. So you can pay more initially [plus interest] or pay less then pay as you go in repairs but economically the end result is a wash! Generally if the 90-93 chain guides have been replaced the next most expensive failure will be the tranny $3K-$4k for a rebuild, driveshaft replacement around 120k $1k, then the AC compressor/evaporator, then rubber hoses under plenum 70k-140k depending, then the rest of normal lux car accessories that fail..plus tires, shocks, brakes that wear faster due to weight and power. Do not assume that an $6,000-$13,000 90-94 Q will be inexpensive to maintain just cost less than a BMW 740 to buy, insure, and maintain. A bad buy [not having everything checked by an expert] could easily result in a maintenance and repair outlay over a few years exceeding the cost of the vehicle ......the highest 2 year cost on record was $11,000 worth of repairs and maintenance in a 90Q from 103,000 miles to 162,000 miles...this did not include an engine or transmission which had already been changed.....now the 94 and up models don't have nearly the expensive issues the earlier units did.

I have a factory installed Soy 10 ad changer that stopped working 3 weeks ago. I bought this car in Dec/00 with 78,000k on it. I called repair shop and they advised me to forget it. It was to old to repair. Does anyone out there know this to be true, or are they just trying to sell me a new one? Should I, dare say, take it to the dealer? thanks

Dealers sublet radio and CD repairs to audio shops. Find out which one your dealer uses from their parts department, and ask them

I just purchases a 1994 Q45. With all of the discussion on reliability I would like to know if anyone knows where I can purchase a shop manual for the car. Thanks Greg Are they really as troublesome as this town hall makes them out to be?

In re the post I made last week: the seller asked $7400 & we settled on $6600 after I had it checked out. Within minutes of my first drive as a Q owner I knew I was hopelessly in love & would do almost anything to hang onto this car. If it turns out to be a repair hog, I will consider a second job. I realize we are in the honeymoon stage of our relationship. Heh, heh! Questions: any way to repair the small split on the left side of drivers seat? Thanks to the message board, I'll be picking up some Hide Food to maintain the rest. I've ordered an owner's manual (from Local dealer, $26. but in the meantime am clueless as to how to operate the CD changer in the trunk. It's a Sony CDX 71 w a remote: RM X43 I've tried various combinations of tuner on/off and, yes, I did load the magazine. The in dash cassette player appears to be rolling tape but no sound. I've tried different tapes Finally, for now, any & all cup holder suggestions are welcomed

I'm an owner of a 93Q that has a persistent rust problem on the door jambs of both rear doors. Is there anybody else out there having the same problem. I was told by dealer that infinite used to repair this under warranty but no longer does unless there is actually a viable hole through the metal!! I've just experienced the failed fuel pump and opted to replace the pump only without the module (400.00)! Let me know if anybody else has gone this route.
