Thanks to Volvo and their "lifetime" transmission fluid/service, no it hasn't been serviced. I'll see what they think. Also, I should mention that I had it in for a routine oil change, and they said it hadn't stored any transmission trouble codes, and that the only thing to do would be to leave it with the shop foreman, and a detail description of what happened, so he can drive it and see if he can duplicate the problem. I think there's some hills/streets around Louisville that would resemble where I had the issue up in Mad-town.

Well could be some electronic glitch mostly likely---the TCM reads various data from speed sensors and gear selector position, etc, and then sends signals to the various solenoids. These units are pretty complex and it's hard to guess what's up without testing. Usually "hunting" means some sort of confusion in the transmission's brain.
