im not sure if this is a good remedy for the airbag indicator but this is what i did to my 2005 tribute and since then i had no more blinking airbag indicator --locate a plug/connector(dont what its called)underneath the driver and passenger seat. Take it apart and spray a little of wd 40 on both sides then plug it together again.

Joe,
I have a 01 Tribute and started experiencing the same problem last winter. I took it to a Madza dealer and they could not fiqure out the problem. I also took it to a local machanic who could not figure it out too. I am still experiencing the same stalling problem and shaking. What did you do to resolve your problem. Did the indentified the problem? I need you help.
Thanks,
deeten

I too have had this problem over and over since I got the Tribute new in 2001, with two dealerships reportedly "fixing" it too many times to count, or I'll just get myself aggravated.
I'd heard about your method to resolve this, but never tried it. When I looked under my two seats, I see two of these plastic connectors under each seat - a total of four of them - that are large yellow and white plastic. Are these what you're referring to?
By the way, I also now have the same stalling/idling problem you do, with the Check Engine light on, and my mechanic is somewhat stumped.
Thanks.

i have a tribute 2001 v6, it won't idle. i have changed the dpfe sensor, egr valve, egr valve sensor, egr vacuum solenoid swith, throttle positioning sensor, idle air control valve, spark plugs, spark plug boots, fuel filter and finally all 4 o2 sensors. everytime resetting codes but they still come back and the car his still the same anybody out there had this problem do you have a solution beside blowing the car up. It's got 105,000 miles still in very good shape since we live in florida but i'm discourage at this point.

you need to check the idle air control valve
