I have also been reading and contributing to the forum for a while. I finally got off the fence and purchased a Silver with charcoal interior 2001 LE with everything except NAV and ENT. I have the tow hitch, leather, body side molding, sunroof visor, auto mode 4 wheel drive. The MSRP was $35,262. I paid $30,300 and got 3.9% financing for 60 months, with the first payment due in 90 days. I got the dealer to throw in a dog gate (estimate $200), 2 free oil changes, and 3 free car washes at a local car wash facility. Surprisingly the 2002 LE was only about $1,400 more than the 01 LE, but special financing was not available for it. I calculated that over 60 months, because of the difference in financing and purchase price, the 2002 LE would cost me about $3,321 more than the 01 LE. So, I went with the 01 LE. Love the truck so far. Thanks for this forum. (P.S. The $30,300 price is after deducting for the $1,500 Nissan rebate. Before the rebate, the price was $31,800)

I misquoted the price of the dog gate. It's $137; not $200.

Anyone buy a Pathfinder and bring it to Detroit?
I'm very interested in buying in Windsor and bringing it to Detroit if the numbers work out.
#4112 of 8191 2 Questions about 2002 LE
Nov 04, 2001 (7:34 am)
I have a 99 SE. Under the rear seats, when you flip up the bottoms to flatten out the seat backs, there's a nice finished carpet piece held in place by some flat plastic grommet-type things -- so when you flip the seat backs down the bolts etc. don't come into contact with the seats as they are covered up by the carpet. On the new 2002 LE, under the seats, there's just a loose piece of black rubber that doesn't completely cover the jack etc. so when the seat backs are flipped down flat there's maybe a chance that the bolt heads etc. could mar or scratch the leather seats. Is the 2002 LE I looked at missing the carpet or would someone else let me know what is under their back seat bottoms?
Also, are there any posts on how to change the in cabin microfilter? I also posted out on the QX4 board as it seems like the process would be the same. Thanks for any help that can be provided.
Also, went to the Seattle Auto Show, and noticed that the QX4 has a cool little bungee-like retractable cord that attaches to the side of the glove box through some little holes in the top piece and the side of the door. It keeps the glove box from dropping right down when you open it. After looking at the Pathfinder glove box door, it has the holes in both places, so it looks like a trip to the Infiniti parts store might just pick up a nice little trick feature. Are there any other items that could be swapped over? Would the nice round analog clock fit over into the same space on the pathfinder dash?
#4113 of 8191 Service engine soon lights stays on and engine stalls- RPM goes to zero

My 6mos old pathy 2001 only 12,0000 miles has been to the shop 3 times for the same problem- service engine soon light stays on and the engine stalls and RPM goes to zero.
Each trip to the dealer, the diagnoises has been on error code 048. They replaced an O2 intake valve, sensors, and have to wait almost a month for another part-ECM board and the harness and wiring. Will keep you posted when all is done.

Windsor is just across the river and, surely, you can pick up a copy of the local newspaper right there in Detroit. Better yet, it doesn't take more than 2 minutes to drive across the Ambassador Bridge (not during rush hour!).
The main question will be the cost of duties and taxes when you bring your Pathfinder back into the U.S.

My '99.5 has the cord that you're talking about that makes the glovebox open smoothly and not just drop.

"2 minute drive to Windsor"
That was before 9/11/01. Delays at the border are pretty long these days. I'm still debating to buy or lease.
I would definatly go to Windsor if I buy. Since I won't keep any vehicle forever, I would need to have the spedo/odo changed over for future resale. I'm just looking at getting my ducks in a row in order to look at the economics of going that route.
This would be an extra vehicle, primarily for use in winter and getting stuff out to the boat during the season.
I'm still debating on the vehicle. I can get Ford "A" plan but with all the complaints on the new Explorer I would just be trading off a less expensive vehicle for more aggravation.
I have narrowed things down on paper to the Pathfinder and the Highlander. Now I need to go drive these things and get more info from the boards.
Any other ideas in this price range that I should be looking at?
