| As much as I love most things about my 2004 Tahoe, I'd never buy another one because the gas mileage sucks bad!! I feel suitably guilty about driving such a gas guzzler and hope America wakes up and lets the auto manufacturers know they have got to make serious changes to avoid pouring any more money into the greedy oil people's hands!! I suppose they are all in cahoots!! If I was you, I'd look around and do some research to find something else to drive. | |

I'm looking at buying a 2002-2004 Tahoe. Seeing as how its nearly December, when is the vehicle a year older regarding values - calendar year or model year ? Will the vehicle be cheaper in Jan or Feb as opposed to December. I found one private party with a 2004, 37000 miles for $19k.Seems like a decent deal but the local dealers are about the same with higher mileage 50-60k. |

Took tahoe to R&S Strauss b/c check engine light turned on. Diagnostic code said to tune up--performed--light still on--next read O2 sensors--replaced both--light still on now reads random misfire code AND now the truck is idling at 4500 RPMs????What the hell is going on. Truck runs fine, but a slight hiccup when idling and running. At low speed (<5 mph) the truck jumps back and forth until it picks up speed. Any suggestions

The price on these tools has come down considerable since I bought mine. Secondly I would buy some fuel injector cleaner. I prefer to use the best one that is on the stores shelves when I use a bottle of injector cleaner. It's up to you, it's always better to read the labels on the bottles and see what they actually do and what chemicals they have in their product. My Tahoe ran fine also, but at stops I did notice that it was starting to shake a little bit. I had the codes PO101, 171 and a couple more that basically deal with fuel related problems. Since my Tahoe does not have an external fuel filter and had less than 50K miles on it when the problem started I started off with trying to get the fuel injectors clean. If that did not work the next thing I would have done would have been to replace my O2 sensors. I have all new plugs and plug wires, so I know that they are good. The stock air filter is basically brand new. I had no vacuum leaks. If the injectors did not work and the O2 sensors did not work the next thing that I would have done would have been to replace the internal fuel filter. Thank God all it was, was dirty fuel injectors. When you romp on the gas you do not need to keep your foot on the pedal after it tachs out. Your purpose is to just make as much pressure as possible to blow out the injectors. This only takes about 50 feet or so to do. I did it a few times. And yes it cleared up the problem. It has been at least 10K miles or more and it also does not shake anymore. I hope that this helped. Good Luck E.M.S. PS. The brakes on Tahoe are really bad. I mean that as a fact. I bought a 07 Chrysler 300 SRT Design last month and the brakes on it are a lot better than my Tahoe's are. It almost feels like I have manual brakes in my Tahoe. Most people on here probably do not even now what manual brakes are. Well empty your power steering fluid out and try steering, or keep your engine off and try to turn the wheel. This is manual steering, manual brakes is just like manual steering. In the 60ties and 70ties that was basically all we had in most vehicles. For some reason Chevy did not give much attention to the brakes on the Tahoe when they designed it. I'm sure that there are after market brakes that work 100% better, but why should the consumer have to pay for new brakes, calipers, Rotors, etc just so that their vehicle has better stopping power. The Tahoe should have been designed with brakes that could stop it at normal speeds. Unfortunately it does not, or at least my 04 Z71 does not have the right braking system on it. I sure hope that no one gets hurt because of the lack of braking power on the Tahoe's. This should be a safety check that our government people should have checked out. Apparently it was never checked out, otherwise it would not have left the shop in the condition that it is in. |

My 2002 tahoe shakes and makes a funny growl when making a sharp turn. Not the tire presure, balancing or the alignment. What could this???
