I have a similar Z71 Tahoe year 2000. Grinding noise during take-off
prompted me to take it to my trusted mechanic. He went under and told me that it is the Rear U-Joint. I did check for prices. They are not expensive but the sound really created fear in my mind. It has 60,500 miles.
Do you or anyone know of any recall of any kind on this Chevy 2000 Z71 Tahoe?

My wife drives an 04 Lexus RX330. I have an 04 Tahoe. When time came for her to go to the June Gift Market (we own a retail store), she wanted to trade cars for the week. Seems my big, living-room on wheels works better for a road trip (that can include hauling home some merchandise) than her sporty but compact Lexus wagon. I've had a nice time driving her car this week. Without question, it's more nimble and refined. I drive it more aggressively as it's really a sedan pretending to be a truck instead of my Tahoe which is a truck trying to be a sedan. While I appreciate the refinement of her RX, I prefer the ease of my Tahoe that does nothing perfectly but almost everything well. love my Tahoe
#5330 of 6471 Rear A/C Evaporator

Has anyone replaced a rear A/C evaporator or expansion valve on a 1999 Tahoe LT? Do you have pictures? Parts suppliers?

A few months ago the a/c on my 95 tahoe started acting funny. While driving, if I kicked it into passing gear, the a/c would start to blow hot air until I resumed to normal speed. I had the system checked and the low and high sides both had adequate freon. I thought I heard a leak on the backside of the condensor, so I replaced it, vaccumed out the system and had it recharged. It would get quite chilly while running and in park. Took it for a drive, same old problem re-appeared. If I take off from a dead stop or kick in the passing gear, it blows hot air and then returns to cold air a minute or 2 later. Someone said it might be the ac compressor clutch going bad. Hate to spend a boatload of money to pinpoint the problem. Any suggestions????

I just bought 2 weeks ago a 2005 Chevy tahoe OMG what a beauty this is Z71 Package TV with DVD player XM Radio ON STAR 3rd row seats all leather and heated seats, never liked leather seats till I had my 99 tahoe and I will NEVER go back to cloth.Well if you buy this Tahoe GOOD LUCK.................TRUST ME you will enjoy this SUV.

At wide open throttle the computer in these vehicles turns off the A/C compressor to reduce the potential of damage at high engine RPM and also to provide extra horsepower for passing. What you are describing is normal operation if it only does it when you have the gas pedal all the way to the floor. It should have always done this though and not just started a few months ago.
