#4936 of 6471 Activating Driver Memory Settings from Key Fob
Nov 20, 2004 (12:38 pm)
I just picked up my 2005 Tahoe Z71 this week. Fantastic truck, loaded with features. I turned in a similarly loaded Trailblazer LTZ which I also liked, but the family just outgrew.
Question: I have set the seat/mirror positions into memory for Driver # 1 (me), and it responds when I push the button on the door. How do I get this to activate from the key fob? With my Trailblazer, it was easy to match the key fob to the driver, and the seats & mirrors always came to their preset positions when I unlocked the car with the key fob. That procedure isn't working here.
The dealer is cluless, as is the Chevy customer service line, though in fairness there is no description in the manual for this.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Using steering wheel controls Driver Information center has the settings for driver one or driver two. Set seat position recall to On with remote.
#4938 of 6471 Top Tether Anchor Points for Forward Facing Child Seat
Nov 21, 2004 (9:07 am)
I have read and re-read the owners manual for my 2004 Yukon trying to determine where the anchor points are for the top tether for my forward facing child seat with the LATCH system. The only things I can find mentioned are the anchor points at the bottom of the front row and second row seats, but I thought these are only used when the seat is rear facing and you bring the top tether down to the bottom of the seat in front of it. If these are the only anchor points for forward facing seats, it means I must pull the the tether over top of the seat and then back under. Can anyone offer any guidance? Thank you.

Thanks for the tip; however, I don't see those selections on the DIC menus on the '05 model.
There is nothing related to this as far as I can see in any of the DIC user option menus. I have already set things like display units, lock on speed, unlock on park headlamp delay, etc. There was nothing there about seat position recall.
Do you have an '05 model or earlier?

#4941 of 6471 Memory Recall

From something I remember reading, one of the changes for the '05 model year was eliminating the function that tied the remotes into the memory. Instead, they left the actual 1 & 2 buttons on the door to serve this function.
That's probably why you don't see this screen on the DIC in your '05.

Do you remember where you read this? I wonder why they would bother to number the key fobs for driver 1 & 2 if there was no memory recall function associated with them.

That's correct. The tether strap is behind the 2nd row seat, at the bottom. It's not real convenient, but is very secure and keeps the strap out of the way of cargo or the 3rd row unlike some that have the tether anchor in the ceiling. I'd put the carseat either in the middle or behind the drivers seat, so you can fold the smaller seat flat if needed.

...here's a small clip of the changes to the '05 Avalanche, which pretty much is the same as the Tahoe/Suburban, and it lists what I mentioned:
• Base inside rearview mirror does not include Auto Dimming feature, Compass and
Exterior Temperature display.
• Personalization features will be simplified. Full details to be provided at a later date.
• Personalization features will no longer be tied to key fobs #1 and #2.
I think I also have it for the Tahoe, just give me a minute...
#4945 of 6471 Can't find it

I just looked in the online ordering guide and it's not listed as a '05 change, but it is in other places like what i found above, so I'd still say that's what happened with yours.
