What is this discussion about?
Chevrolet Tahoe, SUV
May 27, 2001 (8:03 am)
I have seen a 2001 Tahoe Z71 on the road but when I talk to my local dealers they look at me like I have two heads. I looked at the Chevrolet web site and they have not updated there "build your own" site yet.
Any info on the Z71 would be greatly appreciated.
Differences between the LT and Z71. Anyone?
The only thing I visibly noticed was the running boards where factory installed bars.
Thanks for your help

Anybody on this board recently purchase a Tahoe with the LT package with msrp around 40k in the Westchester, NY area? If so, what kind of deal did you get and which dealer? I'm reading about "dealer cash" in the mid-west, but I don't see anything about it around here. THANKS !

I've been waiting 14 months since the Z71 Tahoe (new body) was first shown on the brochure in March 2000. Last Saturday I bought a pewter "Z" for $250 under invoice after rebate.
Headbanger, in response to your question on the Z option, it's an LS base with a bunch of add on stuff to let you run off-road. Stuff like a special heavy duty roof rack,Bilstein shocks, skid plates, limited slip differential etc..It's also has great looking 17 inch wheels with a/t tires. Check out the Chevrolet web-site go to the Tahoe and you will find out what is in the package.
Next weekend I'll run it up Jawbone Canyon in Mojave to see how it goes on some dirt roads and two track trails.
To me it's the ultimate off-road "Luxo-Cruiser".
Over the next 3 months I'll be adding a cat-back, K&N, Huskyliner mats, and a hood or full bra to minimize paint chips.
In a future message I'll report on the off-road capabilities of the new Z.

Anyone owning a Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 care to share your experience with this 4WD SUV, such as gas mileage, towing, maintenance, etc.
#1082 of 6471 Tahoe/Yukon Rebates & Incentives

The current "Customer Cash" rebate and dealer incentive allowance for Tahoes and Yukes adds up to $1750 or so. Unfortunately they both expire on 5/31. Does anyone know what the next set of offerings will be and when....thx.
#1083 of 6471 Tahoe TMV??
May 29, 2001 (7:32 pm)
I am looking at buying a 2001 Tahoe LS but don't know how to factor in the present dealer cash back program offered with the TMV.
Does one take this straight off the TMV or is this factored in to the TMV already??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
#1084 of 6471 Tahoe vs. Yukon
May 29, 2001 (9:44 pm)
We're about to buy one or the other, but I wanted to ask a couple'a questions first. Is there any *real* difference between the T and the Y? Any advice on buying one or the other during the next few days? TIA.

Other than cosmetics (different grill, body moldings, wheels, etc.) there is no difference. The option packages are a little different also so it might cost a few hundred dollars one way or the other for a similarly equipped truck.
GMC is trying to make their line more 'upscale' as evidenced by not being able to buy a base level (stripped) Yukon/Yukon XL. I know the trailering package is standard on the Yukon XL and an option on the Suburban. The drivetrain, chassis, etc are all the same.
If looks aren't that important, buy the one you get the best price on.

I just took delivery of a 2WD '2001 Tahoe. MSRP of $32,570 includes 1SB package, traction control, and rear window control. also put on running boards. Dealer wanted $2,820 out of pocket (which included $525 acqusition fee and first payment, no security taken). I got $1,000 off the $2,820 for owner loyalty. I gave them $1,640 GM dollars, so my out of pocket amounted to $180.
My monthly payment is $365 -including sales tax. 36 months, 12,000 miles per year. I think I did pretty good!

I live in lower Westchester and bought a Yukon in New Milford, CT (Park Cadi GMC Olds) at $700 over invoice over a year ago (which was a steal at the time). I think they upped the price to $1500 over shortly after me... Not sure where they're at now. The guy I dealt with there was great (he later sold my parents an Alero at invoice - and they made a mistake on the paperwork and they paid about $800 under!!!)
He has since moved on to a Chevy Dealer in the same town (Hayes Chevrolet). I'd give him a call. His name is Dave Engstand.
Tell him Sil Spagnuolo in the white Yukon sent you.
Let me know if he gives you a deal.
