#1070 of 6471 Tahoe under invoice
May 25, 2001 (1:01 pm)
I've been shopping around in my area (Little Rock, Arkansas) and have found I can buy a Tahoe LT 4x4 for under invoice ($2000 under at one dealership). I called my hometown dealership to find out how they are doing it, and they told me that through May 31 Chevrolet is giving the dealers "dealer cash" to do with as they see fit. It's not a rebate; it's more like dealer holdback than anything. I think I have to bite the bullet and get one at that great price...
#1072 of 6471 Engine size in Yukon

Does anybody out there know whether GMC intends to offer the 6 or 8 liter engine in the Yukon?
I drove a new Yukon XL equipped with the 8 liter and when I got back in the regular Yukon it was noticably under powered. I would like to hear any views on the likelihood of this happening.

Colin: I have the 8.1 motor. Yes it is great fun to drive. It only comes in the 2500 version. The 3/4 ton trucks are considered commercial vehicles and are not averaged into fuel economy averages for GM. I wouldn't look for the 8.1 to be offered in the 1500 series because of this.
However, there have been RUMORS of a 1500 SS with the 8.1.
If that doesn't materialize, you could consider bolt on blowers, chip conversion kits, corvette heads ($$$), or just do what I did and get the 2500.

I changed my oil about a month ago and it so happened the "change oil" indicator came on. Well its been 1000 miles later and 1 month and the indicator came on again. So there is no way that oil is that dirty as I checked it and it was as clean as the day I did the change. So I just reset it again. I really don't think that it is that reliable. I still believe every 3000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first.
#1075 of 6471 6.0 L 1500 series
May 26, 2001 (5:25 am)
whiteside: you can get a 325hp 6.0L in either the 1500 Yukon or Yukon XL by ordering a GMC Denali. You'll get all the power you could want plus AWD and alot of nice upgrades over the regular 1500 or 2500 series. The Denali has 15 less hp than the 8.1L with substantially better gas mileage, however you will give up some torque which may be important if you have a heavy tow package. You should check the Denali out by taking it for a drive.

I have a 2000 Tahoe (LT,2WD). I am thinking of changing the stock shocks with the new Edelbrock IAS shock. Does anyone have any info on this shock on the new Tahoe/Yukon models? The LT has a load leveling shock and I didn't know if this made any diiference with a change.

The strainer is included in the fuel pump kit. The
in line filter was changed. The air filter is clean.
Tahoe has been running fine since we got back from the
coast. Put some alcohol in the tank to remove any water.
(Did get a hold of some bad fuel two months ago, and the
service light came on then but haven't had any problems
since.) The engine was cold and the service light did not
come on. There is a fuel pump relay in the fuse box.
It did shift rough the week before it originally went out.
Thinking about getting injectors cleaned, and a
tune up. Still concerned if I take it on a trip.
Talked to another dealer and said it must have been
What would you do?

I have seen a 2001 Tahoe Z71 on the road but when I talk to my local dealers they look at me like I have two heads. I looked at the Chevrolet web site and they have not updated there "build your own" site yet.
Any info on the Z71 would be greatly appreciated.
Differences between the LT and Z71. Anyone?
The only thing I visibly noticed was the running boards where factory installed bars.
Thanks for your help

Anybody on this board recently purchase a Tahoe with the LT package with msrp around 40k in the Westchester, NY area? If so, what kind of deal did you get and which dealer? I'm reading about "dealer cash" in the mid-west, but I don't see anything about it around here. THANKS !
