#9521 of 11965 Trooper /re-packaged Acura/ oil consumption

I own a 1999 Acura which is really a re-packaged Trooper . Oil consumption is now up to 1 qt per 800 miles. The car only has 54000 miles on it and before the warranty was up I complained to deaf ears. Acura says it's normal consumption. The car also runs rough, and sometimes dies at intersections. The dealer via the manufacturer has never attempted to fix either problem. The oil consumption seems to be a standard problem with this Isuzu product! My question is has anyone every successfully sued either the Acura( American Honda) or Isuzu manufacturing companies to make them fix the problems with these vehicles. I have documentation to prove the problems started before the warranty expired and that they never fixed them!

Stalling is due to intake manifold, common problem on the 3.5s. As for the oil some burn 1Q/1000miles some don't. I know several that are at 250K miles and you just put in a quart every 1K miles.

My father is going through this exact same thing right now. Only difference is, his oil consumption is a bit greater. Isuzu told him that 1 quart per 800 miles is acceptable. So his is now using 1 quart every 500 miles, I believe.
Anyway, its been months and months now that he is fighting with them. They do admit, however, that, if the problem exists, they will fix it. The process is taking so long because they keep dancing in circles regarding their "testing procedures" and how to exactly measure this oil consumption. (I believe the latest excuse is that they need to have the same tech check the oil both times in that one month period and they haven't done that yet)
But as far as I understand, if you have documentation regarding the issue prior to the end of the warranty, you have a leg to stand on.

On the oil consumption deal, I've just decided to put the oil in when it needs it cause I've gotten the same run-around from the dealers here.

seems this should be a warranty thing. If the rotors are 'pulsing' they are probably warped. They should be replace under warranty up to 36000 miles. I believe everything is covered 3yr or 36K miles. Dealer replaced my 88' Trooper rotors for the same reason, no charge several years ago. Don't let em' blow by you on that. I doubt the pads will need to be replaced. These pads are very durable and long lasting.

Get them to clean the entire EGR system. It gets clogged fairly easily and the oil consumption jumps way up when it is clogged.

I'm reluctant to bring my Troop to the dealer for this item, but I'm not getting around to cleaning it myself. Is it something a competent repair shop (not Isuzu) could do?

And would like to be able to do it myself. Anyone have any online instructions to clean it?

$1500 is way too much. I got all 4 done for about $500 including repacking the hubs. Which I still deem a ripoff. Next time I will take it to an independent shop. I would also get them inspected elsewhere, my dealer said mine needed replacing at 31K and I went with it. Most people posted much higher mileage here. I would get it double checked.
