I dropped a vertical from the lateral midpoint of the opening and it was 31 5/8".

Same measurement on my 2008 Mariner Hybrid was 33 1/4".

My local dealer says all shipments currently held up due to a recall. May be a bit before they get any more.

I'm not sure your local dealership has that quite right. It affects cars built between Mar. 8th, (which is before the retail order build date of April 9th) and June 7th and those vehicles would have already have been shipped. The issue has been resolved for all vehicles built after June 7th. My Escape was built on July 9th and is scheduled to arrive at the dealership in Minnesota the week of July 23, which means a little over three weeks factory to dealership.

wise words- carpet that could get under the pedal- Toyota had the same recall
how many Toyota's were recalled VS how many Fords

The issue isn't the floor mat moving forward and getting under the brake pedal, it's that the carpet and trim piece stick out too far from the center console towards the pedal area. Because of the decreased space, the driver's foot may contact both the accelerator and brake at the same time. It's a possible problem vs. a real problem with the floor mats. But you're right, Ford did act quickly and got out in front of it, unlike Toyota. I read the problem was discovered by a line worker.

#3049 of 3071 Ford Escape 2013 Roof Rack? by lwaddell

Jul 19, 2012 (8:13 am)

I'm planning to buy a '13 Escape with a 2.0 engine. I like the Select because I want leather seats but don't really want the backup tech package and some of the fancy stuff that comes with Titanium. But I do want the roof rack. How hard and expensive is it to get a roof rack added at the dealership?

If you ordered the 1.6L engine, there is a second recall for vehicles built to July 13.
