looks like maybe Chevy just found a money-maker and trying to capitalize on it???.... who knows..... the only thing that was not included with my '01 Z71 Subn was the lights they had listed in the brochures in the special roof rack on the back... maybe it'll be included on the '02 Z71.. but it obvously wouldn't justify that much of a price difference..
..maybe they are just trying to 'close the gap' between the Z71 Subn and the GMC Yukon XL Denali.. there is currently about a $7K price spread. albeit a different targeted customer ??
that special Z71 roof rack and other items were included on the LT Suburban they had showing at the April-2000 ( 15 months ago) NY Auto Show that I went to.... they said it wasn't going to be included on any newer models in the near future.. they ' fibbed'..

when it started offering it on other models besides the pickups

Nope. Don't tow yet. Thinking about getting a pop up though.
How do you like the 6.0 for towing 7K lbs? I have heard alot of complaints about the 6.0's towing abilities (over, say, 5000 lbs). Some have even traded the 6.0 for the 8.1. Just curious what you think. My truck feels like it has the power to do it, but 7000+ lbs is alot of weight.

I noticed today that under the left rear plastic vent on the corner, it looks like the paint is actually peeling on my 2001 burb. It is hard to notice since it is in the very crack were the plastic and sheet metal meet. Has anyone else had similar problems? Also if I take it to the dealer what will their fix be?
#1552 of 4104 Help! Too much wrong!

I don't even know how or where to begin.
I have a 2000 Suburban LT. w/ 23,000 miles.
It makes a vibrating noise when traveling at very low speed. (eg. going though a drive in window, McDonalds) Sounds like it's coming from the exhaust, maybe. I have taken it into the dealership about 6 times, they have heard it while I drive the car. But for some reason they cannot get it to make the noise when they drive it. They say noone else has ever complained about this noise, they have even searched the Chevy data base. It sounds like a tin can going down the road.... so I paid $38,000 for a tin can. They did change out the catalytic converter, but it didn't help.
It tries to stall when you start the vehicle and put it into gear.
It uses at least a quart of oil every 1,000 miles and the computer thing tells me to check oil pressure and just recently told me that I need an oil change after 1,000 miles.
I have also had 4 window motors replaced since I bought it last May 2000.
The moon roof leaks, but I was told that was the way it is designed..nothing can be done.
The traction control turns off when you drive it in the rain. (I would think that would be the time that you would need it the most) You can't get it back on unless you turn the engine off.
Has anyone else had any of these problems??
I really need some imput. The dealership won't help me much at all.

I've had no problems towing 32 ft. 7500 lb. travel trailer with my 2001 6.0 with 4.1 axle. I tow in tow haul mode, overdrive, and cruse. Take it out of cruse on inclines.

Don't have any problems with the 6.0 /3.73 gears towing. Just take my time and watch everyone pass me. I usually tow around 60-65mp,and get around 10mpg. If I get the burb I will probably go with the 6.0/4.10 gears just to have the 2000lb increase in tow rating. Burb has more seats to fill, so that means extra weight for the in-laws to ride along. I get around 15mph without the trailer on the hwy, dont think that I could get that with the 8.1.
#1555 of 4104 BIKE RACK FOR 2001 BURB
Jul 28, 2001 (9:08 pm)
I purchased a bike rack that holds 4 bikes and swings down and back. I have found it to be very easy to use and quick to install. It is made by Holly wood engineering. The phone # is 310-516-8600. It was carried by various bike shops in the So. Calif. area. I hope this helps.
#1556 of 4104 8.1L & Allison combo
Jul 29, 2001 (12:25 am)
I don't know why they don't offer this combo on the YXL and Burbs. The frame is different, shorter, but the body, and motor mounts are the same as a 1500HD crew cab Silverado. Only thing I can figure is that fuel tank placement and size make it unfeasible for one reason or another. It would then be a real tough one to beat in the towing category, not to mention improve the fuel mileage. I hear that Ford is beefing up the Excursion to get a higher towing capacity than Chevy/GMC.
#1557 of 4104 Do you like your 8.1
Jul 29, 2001 (7:44 am)
Just wanted to know how everyone who has the 2500 with the 8.1 likes it. Any problems? What kind of mileage?
