Replying to: darthporno (Jul 22, 2009 9:10 pm) I believe the canister is in the engine compartment, looks sorta like a coffee can. A couple things before you look there in case you haven't checked them out already: Assuming the cap is properly tightened now and not mis-aligned or anything, it may take several restart cycles (maybe a few days) for the light to go out on its own (system runs a check every time vehicle is started and needs a few 'good' checks before turning light off). Also if the seal on cap isn't good it could create the problem and tightening may not help. Replying to: ray80 (Jul 24, 2009 3:42 am) Thanks Ray. The light turned off yesterday so hopefully thats it for that one. I'm also having a temp issue. The rad doesn't seem to be cooling like it should be. temp goes above half when sitting and cools down to just above 1/4 when driving. I've changed the thermostat(fun), flushed the rad, and taken off the fans(also fun) and sprayed water through the backside of the rad to try to clear out any build up on the radiator and condenser but it seems to have little effect. any thoughts? Replying to: darthporno (Jul 24, 2009 7:35 am) My 03 Aztec has had a temp. gauge problem since the car was new (registering too high). However, the car has never overheated. The dealer gave up in trying to fix the problem (I could say lots of words here about this!). The gauge still does not register correctly much of the time. Maybe the problem is the instrument cluster or maybe the BCM or something else. Anyway, my point is make sure the engine temperature is out of spec. before you worry too much about it.

Replying to: darthporno (Jul 24, 2009 7:35 am) Kinda scary seeing that neddle go up towards the red when sitting for extended period. It is however a normal thing for it to go up that high and it is operating within normal specs. If you happened to have radio off and in a quiet place (with air off) you might be able to hear when fans come on and think its sorta late but is operating normaly. As long as it does go down once your moving again and doesn't actually hit the red zone you shoud be fine though.

ok i have done some research, fixed my bcm problem still have to take it (2001) to the dealer to get programed. but now that i have it torn apart, i would love to find the infamous leak. Mine leaks on both sides and yes when i pulled back the carpet it was really wet down there. so where is this leak i have read about and how do i fix it? any leak info, any fix info. i am willing to try them all till i get the right one. i will add this to anyone needing some advise on an engine surge problem. i had a problem with my car surging when i came to a stop light the rpm's would go up to about the 4500 range. i took it to a transmission guy, told him about a selinoid problem i had heard about, he dismissed me and told me it would be 1900.00 to replace my transmission. i took my car back had it towed to another transmission guy, told him about the selinoid, he had heard of this problem checked it out. bottom line with the tow and fixing my problem 162.00 no joke. this guy saved me 1700.00. if the other guy had put in the transmission it would not have fixed my problem because the selinoid is behind the gas pedal. heads up peeps do ur research. especially on older cars out of warranty.

If you have a sunroof that is the first place I'd look, the drains may be plugged (there are 4 of them). Next thing I might wonder about is HVAC system ( I believe there is something for AC that drains that could be a problem), also check the condition of cabin air filters to see if they are wet. Windshield seal is also possible as when as a door seal (that would usually mean only one side wet)

01 Aztek AWD back section of drive shaft has bad bearings . Currently vehicle is in a mechanic's shop . Cannot locate source for the bearings. The dealer will only sell us a complete drive shaft with bearings $1350.00 . One bearing the larger of the 2 bearings has # 60100, the smaller bearing is all chewed up. Cannot make out #'s . Dealer will not sell the bearings alone and is not willing to even give us the number of the smaller bearing . The race that the bearings sit in is intact . ANYONE out there know where I can purchase the bearings ?? My mechanic has tried all his regular sources.> I have tried all the junk yards in the Chicagoland area & few out of state . Unfortunately I cannot locate a wrecked Aztek to get bearings . Going to a bearing company next . They say that they GM numbers mean nothing to them So I am taking the race and the 2 bearing with me to show them . My next plan is to have the bearings made in Mexico & shipped to Chicago . The cost of a drive shaft even with a trip to get the parts would be much cheaper than buying them. Your mechanic should have some addresses that you can contact out of state.
