Does anyone remember this? It was Chrysler's road tour. GM still does it every year, but it isn't the same.

Chrysler/Jeep had a Jeep test track that they bulldozed into the empty forest near the location. I chose to drive a Liberty since I hadn't before and they were new. They sent a driver with you, and it actually was an off-road course! (No rocks, but body damage was a no-no.)

Will they do it again? Sounds like an opportunity to really get the new Wrangler out there for people to see. Also, in 03 there were no new 300's/Magnums out yet. With all the new models, this summer would be the perfect time.

Jeep's page is gone, but here's a story about it with pics from rockcrawler...

I went last year. It was called Camp Jeep on the road. Here is a link to my post about it. click here
I can't believe no one called me on "test driving a compass". I meant to say commander.
I find Jeep's website hard to use. I can't ever find anything on there. I have no idea if they will be having an event like that again this year. I guess you have to check Jeep's website every so often.
If you took the rubicon on the off-road course you did a small little run over some rocks.
I liked how toyota had an off road course at the auto show this year.

It is... mine is similar to keats', just on the longer wheelbase. 2005 was the year that Jeep introduced the Sahara Special Edition Unlimited Rubicon model (1,000 units made) -- all of which were in the Khaki color scheme -- and coincided with the Sahara movie release that briefly featured a number of Wranglers doing what they do best in desert terrain. That said, there just aren't that many in Khaki around.

Very nice picture Keats. It looks great. No bumperettes gives it a much better Jeep look. Sharp! KB2

Love the pic!

I can probably find by searching, but if you get a chance for a quick post, whose rock rails are those? They look like decent steps as well, which is what I'm searching for...

Thanks, drewmeister, those are Jeeperman Trail Skidz. Here's a link: Jeeperman

They are a perfect step and they protect the entire legth of the rocker. I have been extremely pleased with them.

KB2, thanks. I have since added the new Mopar end caps to the front and rear. They give the bumpers a nice finished look. Where are those pics of Rosie?

I know. I sound like a broken record but I still have not purchased a digital camera. It will happen. Go Easy, KB2
