i have heard countless time that the new 4runners should use premium fuel only. Replying to: erichochman (Mar 14, 2007 8:47 am) Yes, in the 4th generation 4Runner either V6 or V8 you can use 87 octane "regular gas". It's in your owners manual. I've never had a problem nor could I detect a ping. I've used 93 octane and could not feel any difference in power or mileage. Hope this answers your question.

I own a '99 4Runner SR5 4WD Sport Edition with the 3.4L 6 cyl. and auto trans. Does the Sport Edition model have any structural differences other than the hood scoop? I've been told the suspension is different in some way than the non-Sport Edition 4 Runners.
