Thank-you for the courtesy of a personal reply.

I have tried many times to work out a time to take the car to any Saturn Dealership in Northwest Ohio or Southeast Michigan; I have been promised by any number of people: a rental, an immediate exchange of vehicles, that a Saturn Rep would be coming to pick up, and exchange, the vehicle, and the always famous well, we don't have any openings in service this week, or next, but will call you if we do, none of which was actually followed up on; Saturn has not ever, once, admitted that there just might be a problem with either the dealer, or the vehicle. I have shown up at the dealership unannounced only to be told that I will need an appointment and because there are issues, I will need to speak with the service manager, or sales manager, who of course, can't see me right now; I have made appointments at the Saturn Dealer in Ypsilanti, MI to exchange the car only to be called by the Service Manager at the last minute, who couldn't get off the phone fast enough, that the appointment had been cancelled because I did not purchase the vehicle frm them; Saturn of Toledo has called me many rude names as I have been begging for help almost as soon as I picked up the vehicle with 45 miles on it that it did not have when I test drove it and said I would take it, but had to wait to pick it up for Dealer Prep and reported me to Saturn Corporate as having a case of Buyer's Remorse - not true - and that I want money back for buying a Demo, which I did not as the price I paid was for a new car and finally have been told not to bring the car to the Toledo Dealership as there was no guarantee as to what condition it would be when I returned to pick it up, and as we all know, it could be worse.

I did a lot of research on this vehicle and thought I had made a wise choice; I just want one that is safe to drive; I don't want money back, like the Dealer keeps saying; I want the vehicle exchanged for the same make and model.

Thank-you again. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow that car is not safe. I would take it to a different dealership and trade it in. Take out a loan for the difference if needed. I got my VUE at Saturn of Farmington Hills in MI and was told they have a no haggle trade in policy. Best of Luck.

I had the same problem in my 2004 Saturn Vue. Sounds like you are suffering from an internal clutch failure in your torque converter. Saturn dealership said it would cost $2,000 to fix. I went to a transmission shop and they rebuilt the torque converter for 1/2 the cost. Still, pretty sad that a transmission is failing in a car that is less than 5 years old and with less than 100,000 miles and it costs $1,000 to repair.

Happy to say I sold my Saturn last week and have a new Honda Civic on the way.

2004 Saturn VUE - Creaking in Front Passenger Side by bdemay

I have a 2004 Saturn VUE (automatic transmission) FWD V6 and I believe I am having similar issues as noted in the above several posts.

I think I am a little luckier in that I didn't need to replace tires until about 50k miles and the first brakes work was around 58k miles (which included new pads, rotores, etc.). While these were somewhat pricey, I think they are reasonable given the life of the vehicle before I experienced any problems. I had to have some sensor replaced in my tire last year, but that has been the only issues I have ever had with this vehicle since I purchased it in April 2004.

I am now at about 60k miles and have been experiencing a creaking sound in the front passenger side that sounds like it is coming from around the tire or the suspension. I remember this happened a couple months back, but went away and I forgot about the issue, but now it is back. Is this a similar issue that others are having? Is there anything I can do about this or is there some sort of recall that covers this? Does anyone know if this poses any significant safety issues?

Believe it or not, we've gotten some results from our dealership. About a month ago I took it in and gave one of their technicians a ride to witness the problem. As always happens, nothing happened!!! But finally, and just barely, as we rounded an uphill bend and the tranny was just upshifting it did its little magic thing only for an instant, but it was enough for the technician to feel it.

As luck would have it, the dealership was being moved in the next couple of days and we were headed out of town for 2 weeks so the response was not immediate. When we got back, I called the dealership and they said things had been hectic with their move (caused by the eminent domain issue) and they'd not gotten to the issue. Then out of the blue I got a call 2 days ago from the parts department saying the torque converter for the VUE had arrived and we needed to set up an appointment for the replacement!!! How about that, some action from the dealership. And they said everything is covered including a rental car.

I must tell you people tho, this is a 2004 VUE V6 FWD only and we have an extended drivetrain warrenty to 60K miles. Luckily for us we're at 58.4K miles right now.

So, our story supposedly ends happily. I can only hope that most of you will have the same result.

I had a similar creaking noise in my 2003 fwd Vue . I had 64000 km and no other
repairs to date. It was loudest when I turned to the right. With great trepidation, I
took it to the dealer with visions of several thousand dollars for struts, front end
power steering etc.

Turns out the dealer replaced two tie-rods for $290. Said they were loose(guess you don't just tighten them. Bottom line :the noise is gone and the wife is happy.

Towing a 2005 Saturn VUE by bertieferris

I own a 2005 Saturn VUE with the V6 and a 5-speed automatic transmission. It is an All-Wheel-Drive model. I want to tow this vehicle behind my motor home. The owner's manual says all but vehicles with the VTi transaxle are towable. How do I know whether or not I have the VTi transaxle?

I believe the VTi transaxle you refer to was only available in the four cylinder version of the VUE. At the time we bought our 04 VUE I queried Saturn about towing the vehicle behind the motorhome. They sent me (or I got one from my dealer) an addendum to the manual that referred to towing. Strange as it may sound, the restriction is that you can tow the vehicle but only for 512 miles at which time you have to unhook it and drive it around for a few miles, probably to get the tranny fluid where it needs to be. Then you can re-hook the vehicle behind the motorhome and be on your merry way. There is something else you have to do when you tow but right now that process escapes me. If I find the supplemental sheet I'll put it into words for you.

In the meantime you might ask your dealership if they have specific instructions for the towing issue.
