Greetings!

I know exactly what you are talking about ... I too have an 04' V6 FWD. I have experienced the same problems. At around 30 - 35 mph the vibration kicks in and I can duplicate this vibration time and time again in any conditions. It first noticed it at about 35000 km, I now have 140 000. It seems to be much more frequent lately. It seems as though the transmission is hesitating in climbing into the next gear (second) at this speed range. I am just waiting for this shudder to turn into a slipping action from the transmission. YOU are not alone this "shudder" is a common complaint among 04' owners.

Thanks nelson. Have you taken the VUE to the dealership and if so, what have they said? You say many '04 owners have the same issue. Can you refer me to a blog thread on this subject? I took a glance through all the input under this main topic (Saturn VUE) and saw no reference to it offhand.

Isn't this transmission actually a GM product linked to a Honda engine? Like you, we're concerned this will continue and get worse and eventually whatever the problem is (most likely the transmission), will seize up and the vehicle will be disabled at a very inopportune time.

Does that refer to 08 VUEs only? Ours is an 04.

I am having this exact problem too. Have a 2004 Vue, 2wd, 6 cyl, with 77,000 miles. Not sure when it started but it has been doing this for some time. We have decided it is time to take it to a dealer to have it diagnosed. Hope it is just some type of software or solenoid problem. It does not seem to get any worse, but it is consistent at 30 - 35 mph. If I get to a dealer this week, I'll let you know what they say it is.

Wow, I am so glad I checked out this site. I have a 2004 Saturn VUE Redline FWD with 106k on it. I have been the only driver. and I have had numerous issues with the Car post 36k. This shudder is one that I have been complaining about since about 15k

Several trips to the Dealership, and the same unable to reproduce garbage. Along with this issue, I have also had to have front wheel bearings replaced 2x times at nearly 1400 a pop.. Both under warranty. once at 77k and the second at 99k. Along with Abnormal brake wear and replacement.. rotors every 15k brake about the same

I have complained to Saturn, and they have been rude and unresponsive. Saturn of lmhurst IL is the worst dealership EVER. With Both wheel bearing replacements, they told me it was tire noise, I replaced the tires, and in both occasions it did nothing, When I returned to the dealership they REFUSED me entrance to the Service bay and told me that there was nothing wrong with my car. I returned the next day and the Service Manager Kevin told me to take my car to another Saturn dealer.

Amazingly enough The 2nd Dealership found the problem immediately. (Wheel Bearing) Unfortunately the transmission shudder only happened once, the major concern was the wheel bearings. The 2nd tech eluded that there were Many issues with the Wheel bearings and that it would be surprising to replace these.

My mileage ran out, but I can make the Transmission shudder in 30-35 miles an hour...

My 2nd and Last Saturn.. and Never again GM.

Corporate Saturn stated that the region Service manager would be examining the car, the 2nd dealership, and in the meantime they would be sending me a Service voucher for 250 dollars. The voucher never came, or the appointment setup. I called in the beginning in May, and was told the paperwork was missing. They sent me the voucher.. and told me no further assistance was available. I stated I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau

I have a case with the Better Business Bureau opened, however it falls outside of lemon law repurchase.. I am waiting further communication from BBB to file a complaint.

Saturn called me back to tell me that their position has not changed. Message boards like this is my first stop. Next You Tube, then the consumerist, after that... My local Paper.

Can you believe the arrogance?

Anyone have the same or similar issues with their 2004 VUE?

Ditto ... ditto ... ditto. Your problems are a carbon copy of the problems I have been having with my own 2004 Vue. I have had three pair of rotors installed on this vehicle since I purchased it new. Four sets of brakes have also been installed. I also have a constant sqweeking noise in the front end ... This shudder from the transmission started at about 35K and has consistently gotten worse over the years. I now have 140 000 Kms and it feels like the transmission could drop out at any time.

Has anyone heard of a recent recall on Saturn Vues just released this May?

I feel your frustration I too have same issues. Dealer has never been able to find the problem ... the only problem is that I bought a GM product, bad move on my part!

Let's keep this going guys and perhaps we can build a real portfolio on this problem and put it to our dealerships as a real, and frustrating problem. One of the respondents a few entries back referenced a transmission problem that had a recall number and some VIN #s to go with it. Cross checking the VIN, it didn't appear to be a VIN at all, not the right number and type of characters. And the implication was that the recall was for trannies from the 2008 model.

I have an appointment with Saturn of Evansville (IN) for Wednesday, May 21, 2008. I'll let you know what they find (if anything), I'm already apprehensive as they told me they have not heard of this problem before.

Lets gather as many VUE owners together and file a claim this is absolutely ridiculous, Faulty Brakes, Faulty Wheel Bearings, Faulty, Faulty, Faulty,

It might be time to get the National Highway Transportation and Safety Adm involved. (that title is prolly wrong.)

Just curious.. are these REDLINE VUES?
