My state, Maryland, already uses E10, and I see hundreds of CR-Vs on the road. They seem to be fine.

I think there is a concern over E15, which is being debated for use right now.

E10 should be fine.

I have a 2004 Honda CRV with 68,000 miles and their is a burning smell coming from the passenger side rear wheel on dry and wet payment. Numerous dealers could not find the problem. Alignment was in specifications. The burning smell is intermittent. When the smell occurs you can touch the wheel rim and the rotor and both are cool to the touch. One service tech said his mothers 2007 is experiencing the same problem and it's nothing to worry about.
Help anyone.

First thing I suspected were the brakes. Maybe the caliper pistons are jamming, or the parking brakes are sticky?

I had to replace a sticky caliper on my Miata once.

05 is well worth the extra money, at least an extra $500-1000 over a similar 04 (especially if you stick with LX instead of the pricier EX). Reason? In 05 Honda standardized safety features across all their models. So with an 05 you get side curtain air bags, ABS, and most important, Automatic Stability Control. Plus you get the remote key entry (very handy), and better headlights.

I should know, I bought an 04, whereas my wife got the 05

It has been determined on the "other forum" that the smell is from the rain or snow water boiling off the hot exhaust pipes.

I have had similar smell in a K20 powered Civic, both of out 2005 and 2010 CR-V's, which have K24 engines in them exhibit this behavior.

#16199 of 16202 04 engine noise by theriver

A few days ago I was checking under the hood looking for a noise when I reved the car to see if I could replicate it.

I didn't hear the "noise" I was looking for, but as I was revving the engine, I thought I could hear an engine knock - like a clicking coming from the engine. High RPM

Can;t say I noticed it when I was driving and don;t know of any performance issue. Oil has always been changed on time. Does the engine usually do that or does it sound like trouble.

In past cars this usually indicated a piston issue, but honesly can;t tell if it is the same noise. Just ever boticed it, but I'll be honest, can't say I have been under the hod whe nthe engine revved.

thanks

I would like to put a tow hitch on my 2004 CRV. What is the tow rating for it and also, I would like to tow a Pop up trailer. What weight POP up trailer should I get

I read elsewhere recently you too have an 05 CRV with a stick. Curious your mpg and your driving style to get said fuel mileage?

There aren't very many sticks out there. There are times I would like the 5 sp auto, but if you really have to get up and GO, as in aggressive merging or passing on 2 lanes, the sticks will just annihilate the autos. The difference is like having a V6 under the hood. Do you find that? So many parasitic losses with an auto I guess. I miss the tall final drive ratios that all the autos have tho. Our highway mileage would be better if it had the identical ratio. Of course it would not be as quick if it did..I think due to the lower gearing, the stick CRV will beat a stick Accord of the same year. I suspect the Accord gets much taller gearing even with the stick. Their weight is similar, but the AWD has very noticeable hydraulic drag on the CRV's...and of course pushes a lot more air if the speeds are higher..

Also, did you purchase Honda Manual Tran Fluid to replace yours yet? Or did you use a different fluid? If you have gotten into this, I am curious about another drain plug on it...It is towards the front of the tran..same side as the vertical drain and fill plug but fowards from there on the front and is on an angle. Appears to be 12 or 13mm bolt head. Was getting dark when doing my oil change the other day and back was killing me, so never did get around to measuring it. Do you know if that is an extra drain area that maybe few people know about? I know my old Matrix (AWD) had two drain areas for the tranny and few knew about it.
