Replying to: tnes (Oct 06, 2008 5:22 pm) Crawl under the rear of your RDV and look to see if it has axles going horizontally into each rear wheel. To confirm, simply ask your local mechanic to take a quick look - to confirm. If you take your vehicle to the same auto shop to change it engine oil, I'm sure they will look under its rear (for visual AWD axle confirmation) for free.   .

Replying to: tnes (Oct 06, 2008 5:22 pm) The easiest way to tell (if supplied) is the versatrak badge on rear window. In addtion to what previous person posted, if your underneath the vehicle you should see something that looks like a driveshaft running front to rear if you have the AWD.

We bought our RDV in January of 2006; a 2003 with 35K miles on it. The head gasket went the day after we bought it, but other than that we have been fairly happy with it...only other problem was the bearing hub, which I replaced (and have another one in my garage if/when I need to do it again).   However, this weekend, with 103k on it, the timing chain broke. Sitting at a stoplight it just shut off. I can pay $1000 to put a new timing chain on and HOPE there is no internal damage, or I can pay about $4000 to drop a reconditioned engine in there (not a junkyard one; but a crate engine). Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed with this development.

I need info on 2005 to 2007 Rendezvous. Can the second row bench seats be interchanged with caption's chairs? I would like to replace the caption's chairs with bench seats. Will they fit into the same floor tracks? Also can the 3.4 and 3.5L engines be swapped out with the 3.6L engine. I have a 3.6L engine that I would like to put into a RDV with the 3.4L or 3.5L.

Replying to: angelt (Oct 22, 2008 6:16 am) It is in the center console area, underneath the cover. It does have to be programmed by dealer and potentialy you could have troubles starting it if you don't (althugh I haveb;t heard of it being any issue)
