HI ALL I HAVE A 2004 YUKON AND SOMETIMES IT GOES INTO NEUTRAL ON MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE BUTTON. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS BROBLEM. HELP THANKS JAN01

Hi, everyone. As you've probably noticed, we have been trying to refine the discussions into more narrowly focussed topics. Our objective is twofold. Rather than having the hosts simply create boilerplate topics for each make/model, we feel that you, the owner, the make/model enthusiast and the prospective buyer can best judge what those topics should be.   You can help by adding a discussion (it's easy!) or suggesting one here.   To add a discussion, click on the last link in the "You are here" line at the top of this page. That will take you to the topic page for this make/model. Review the list of topics and click on the "Add discussion" link when you've decided what topic you'd like to add. Follow the directions and you're done! Feel free to add more than one. Replying to: butta (Jul 10, 2000 6:49 am) Wasn't sure where to post this but we just last week a 2004 Yukon. Love it! But, when you turn it sounds like there is a pop coming from the steering column. It does so more when you turn right than left. Anyone have this problem? I kind of noticed it when we test drove it but decided against getting looked at because for one it is still under manufacturer's warranty and we got an extended warranty that virtually covers everything so we took our chances.   Thanks! Replying to: jennmw (Oct 16, 2006 7:59 am) Absolutely take it to the dealer. There is a known issue with noise in the steering column while turning.   Our '05 had the same noise, and they fixed it under waranty.   Welcome to the club!   --Tom

Replying to: jtallen (Nov 26, 2006 6:08 pm) I did take it in I guess it is a common problem with Yukons and Tahoes, etc. All they did was put a lube kit for $20 in the steering column, haven't had a problem since!

A member of my church is interested in selling his 2001 Yukon SLT 4x4 Silver with factory running boards. The vehicle was used by his wife for her job of woking as a nurse in a community outreach program for under priviledged children. It has 97,000 highway miles on it and is in immaculate condition. He and his wife have bought diesel volkswagon jettas with all wheel drive. They have garaged it and driven it very rarely. (Too much money in gas.) They live far out of town. I am considering offering him 9500 for the vehicle. But, am concerned about any maintanace issues I might have with a Yukon in this year. He also said that they very rarely have put it into four wheel drive. Might be wrong.   Anyway, your offer looks fair, a little low in fact, but you're taking a risk on a high mileage vehicle. If it did have problems, it might be awkward having to see your friend at church every week. But if he's cool with you having a mechanic look things over, and everyone agrees no warranty/buyer beware, then it could be a good move to buy from someone you know and trust.
