Yes, from CR, 99 and 00 are the best (full red circle), 97, 98, 01, 02 and 03 are next to 99-00 in their "overall" indicators (half red dot).

I hope nothing will happen to my 02 down the road. So far, it has none.

Battery protection? by jiamin

Today, my 5 year old battery suddenly died. At Costco I bought one Kirkland battery. It is supposed to be the same size, group 25, but it is smaller than the original. Therefore, the plastic thing that goes onto the battery is loose.

There are two pieces of metal looking squares on the plastic, next to each other but on two different sides, both close to engine. Anyone knows what those pieces are for? To block heat from engine?

Maybe you are supposed to pull them off and use them to make the battery fit in the battery tray with the hold down device. I've seen a few car batteries with universal adapter fittings so you can bolt them into place in various cars.

Or maybe they are hiding side terminals?

Hi Steve,

This smaller battery is bolted down in the tray very well and secure. The plastic thing is thin, like a thick paper, with the same height as the new battery. It is loose horizontally, but its top is held down under the crossbar so it will not move.

I am not sure why the original batery died so fast. I didn't feel any slow cranking the day before. Only in the morning the battery was noticeably weak but started engine OK. After about 6 miles drive to Costco putting gas in, battery was completely dead.

Actually I didn't expect any reply soon. This thread is not very active.

Beats me. Maybe if you post a photo of it on your CarSpace page, someone can clue us in (yeah, you have me curious - it's been a few years since I shopped for a battery).

The easiest way is to upload your photos to your CarSpace page in an Album there.

One you've done that, you can click on one of your photos. There'll be two boxes there - one's a URL for linking to your photo and the other box has the URL for pasting the photo into a post. So copy the stuff in one of the boxes and paste that code into a post.

If you know the URL of your photo (maybe it's hosted elsewhere), you can use the IMG button under the posting box - so you'd click the button, paste the code and then click the button again to close the code.

Still too confusing? There's a simpler explanation in the Help file.

If you click on the "help" link at the bottom of this page you will find instructions for posting pictures. Briefly, you need to (a) find a host for your pictures (such as your own ISP) then (b) type <img src="the exact address of your picture">.

It's even easier when you set up your own CarSpace (see link at the top of this page). Once you have done that, just go to your CarSpace and copy the link for insertion into a message here if you want to display the picture in our Forums.

My interior door pulls on my QX4 are in rough shape and I would like to replace them. Is there a parts supplier that may have these items, Basically the wood tone is wearing away.
