Lets hook a Tacoma to the bumper of a Ranger 4.0 and, you know see what happens.

Then we will see if it is HP or TORQUE that equates to power.

My money is the Ranger which outweighs the Tacoma will drag that pretty little truck all over the place.

Ranger today on Yankee Hill. Hit some nasty spots and a bit of mud.

Had installed the front receiver hitch and gouged it in a few of the hills. Has a lot of fun.

Should have some nice Ranger articulation pics for posting when I finish the roll.

Also, I do not know what the mistique is about the jeeps. We ran into 3 of them and we were all handeling the bad spots better than the jeeps. They lost traction all over the place and in our opinion were not anywhere near equal to the Ranger. I took a big chunk out of one hill with the hitch and kept on goin.

Had to take off the winch platform to make it thru the rough stuff. Hope to mount an route the winch harness tomorrow. Today was a test of seeing how the hitch/platform handled.

Oh by the way, when we were playing in the mud, we tried to get the jeeps to come in. They declined.

Also, only Toyota in sight had an unloaded ATV trailer, and was parked down the hill.

exceeded the entire elevation change of Ill. in a 10-15 mile span. Running from 7800 ft in Blackhawk area to just about 10,800 ft on top of Yankee Hill. At least that is what the GPS said.

Vince:
ing I noticed different between the 87 and 89 and mine, I kept trying to hold it at 2500-2700 rpm in 4 low and I kept running up thier bumpers and had to stop. Guess my final drive ratio is better for speed up the hills than the older Rangers. I had to keep stopping and let them get ahead. Sometimes had shifted into 2nd gear in 4X low.

Did rev up to about 5 k once in the mud in 4X4 low. Ooops!

I really didn't have to deal much to get that price here. Mine is very loaded with about everything but a sun roof and step bars and I got that price with little hassle. I would say that mine is comparable to the Ford XLT. They sell a lot of Tacoma's here in Calif. so don't forget that the dealer gets incentives based on the quantity they sell quarterly. Toyota also has special value packages that include a lot of the options at a cheaper price. It's had to decipher those packages sometimes at carsdirect. Anyway, the Toyota is still quite a bit more expensive than a comparable Ranger but more in the tune of 3K to 3.5K here in Ca. If you take off the TRD package you can take off another grand. Even then I can understand someone considering whether it's worth the extra $2500 for a Toyota. In my case I think it's worth it but it depends on what you prefer.

You know I'm seeing ads for XLT 4x4 Ranger supercabs with the 4.0 V6, off road pkg., etc. for about $20,400 here. Could be gimmicks to lure you in or maybe trucks are a bit cheaper here than in your area. I've priced cars here compared to Oregon and they're about a grand on average cheaper here. There's no sales tax there and we pay about 8% so that make up the difference though.

If you 'hook a Tacoma to the bumper of a Ranger 4.0' the bumper will come off the Ranger, everyone knows that........
