When I bought my van(EXL-RES) I went through the Honda site and blasted to the 30 dealers listed. I've noticed that small town dealers are more willing to do dealer trades if the don't have it ready.

I bought mine from Fenton Honda, Ardmore, OK. I recommend you try them and Jack O Diamond, Tyler, TX. Someone from Houston took my recommendation and bought a Touring+NAV from Jack O. You may have to search the posts around March-April time frame.

As for local dealers, I've noticed that they aren't predictable, their prices fluctuate widely (quote MSRP first and then say they match). Some of them have useless Internet Only prices which are a joke since they want you to come by the dealership to chat.

By the way, I did all my dealings over e-mail, phone and fax. The only time I went to the dealer was to pick it up.

Good luck with your search. If you want more info drop me an e-mail.

Paid $26,500. No haggling. There was some attempt to quote me without destination charge, but they immidiately backed up from that after I have expressed amusement. As they had color I wanted (ocean mist) sitting right there in a dealership near my home, decided it is a good enough deal. Their business seems to be on a slow side, but then I always buy cars in May - seems like the best time.

Dear Ezo,

You are right! To anyone and everyone who reads this forum. Take note and avoid Madison Honda in Madison, New Jersey. If you really want a Honda, buy it elsewhere. Perhaps Planet Honda on Rt. 22 in Union. Madison Honda puts cars on their lot as certified that on close inspection clearly fail the standards set by Honda America. Example: Cars with two front tires not matching. One old, one new. Fluid levels not up to specification, etc. etc. Car out of alignment on test drive. Etc. Etc. Yet again cars already on the lot with certified sticker in window. And signed checklist in dash. This indicates shoddy workmanship and standards and calls into question whether any certifcation warranties on used cars offered for sale at this dealership are accurate and up to Honda's highly promoted 150 point checklist. I would be interested to hear from any other customers of Madison Honda who hav ehad bad experiences. Honda America should be looking into the business practices of this dealership. As for complaint letters to American Honda I suggest writing the President of the Company at the America Honda headquarters in Torrance California. Unless the President hears about such complaints you have little hope of getting any satisfaction from Honda Customer Service. From my experience they take the side of the dealer, regardless of what the customer has to say. Bad business policy. Very short sighted. Over time customer complaints like yours will certainly shake the confidence of those thinking about buying a Honda.

Vanilla EX in Naperville/Aurora IL by dazmr2

I just paid $26,500 inc dest (about a $2500 saving) for a vanilla Odyssey EX in Ocean Mist from Valley Honda in Aurora, IL. I had to wait three days for it as it came straight from the factory (only 2 miles on the odometer.)

I also got them to throw in the leather steering wheel cover. Also got a book of coupons for cheap servicing etc (alledgedly a $1100 value... yeah, right!). I didn't get suckered into buying the extras such as paint protection, extended warranty etc.

Not bad, considering a friend was being quoted MSRP at all the local dealerships only 3 months ago.

I believe you can do better with Community. Last december, I saw Eric posted a thread about the same car you are looking for. He paid $800 above invoice at Community. This translates to today's price at $30,187 with dest. This nice fellower later referred me to this dealer and I received the same treatment. I think the keys are 1, contact their Internet Sale Manager 2. Say you are referred by their customer 3.Preparet to wait 5-6 weeks if they don't have what you wanted. Did your coworker do that?

P.S. Check Eric's thread #7609

Please don't ask for info about salespeople. It's not allowed per the lettering above the "post a message" box.
