I got a quote from Martin Honda in Newark, DE for only $810.00 over invoice on an LX. Does anybody have any info on Scott Honda in West Chester?

"Stop check a good idea, but if you legally owed them the $500 they could have taken you to small claims court? But then again I doubt a dealership would do that over $500...don't know."

I don't believe they had (have) any legal rights. I didn't sign anything when I gave them the deposit. They held the check for a month and never deposited it. It basically, according to them, "held my place in line." When I tried to get them to meet the new deal, I was told two people were in line after me.

Berkmom, a bit off subject: I have been following your posts on prices in eastern mass. Topics were very useful, can you please suggest one based on your experience (we live in MA). On verge of buying one, input will really help. thanks.
On the subject: I am not an expert, but was informed by someone knowledgeble that they dont really have much legal backing (and may not even care).

Contact Sam Swope in Louisville - posters repeatedly cite them as having the best prices around your area.

I don't know why the dealers would give conflicting information on the sales tax credit question - it is elementary. To be sure, contact whatever state or local agency handles your titling process and find out the definitive answer.

I will say that I (an Ohio resident) bought a new car in Kentucky last year and the dealer was well versed in the concept (as that is the law in Ohio and I got the credit IN OHIO even on an out of state transaction).

I just spoke to the Finance gal at Pohanka Honda and she quoted $764 for 7yr/75k and $1069 for 7yr/100k, both with $0 deductible. It sounds very easy and well worth it.

chi_campus,

We live in Sacramento and would like to know where you bought your van at invoice price (plus tax and license).

I found the exact vehicve that I wanted at a dealer near the Vegas airport. Since I'm in Socal, this would have been an easy flight and a cab ride. I called Honda and they said that the CA emission warranty is only valid on vehicles delivered in CA. I don't know if this was a story or ?? Fortunately, I was able to locate my vehicle near my residence a day later.

"Does anybody have any info on Scott Honda in West Chester?"

I was just there today (picking up my '05 Ody being serviced). Their service department has an excellent rep. My 2 experiences with that dep't have been very positive --offered loaner even though we didn't buy there, washed our filthy van each time, car washer even told us to stop by even if we weren't getting service and he would wash our van in 5 min. for free.

On the sales end, I dealt with a very nice and accomodating salesperson, whose name I will be happy to give you if you email me. Unfortunately, they were $3,100 more on a RES/NAV than I was being offered in Ohio (see post 8389) and manager wouldn't close gap. If you want to save another $500 after shipping and don't mind having the car shipped, it may be worth a call to Ohio.

I suspect on an LX that Scott will match the Martin quote. (I had heard that Scott had a reputation for not matching the cheapest prices, but they were offering decent prices on a Pilots few weeks ago.)

There have been a number of LX sales at invoice ($23,100) cited on this board; I'm sure you can do the same. If you are willing to go to NJ, prices at or near invoice were discussed from Joyce Honda, Honda of Essex, Metro Honda, and Garden State Honda.

Other Philly dealers to try:

JL Freed - Lansdale--I'm sure they will beat Martin.

Marty Sussman in Roselyn--you will get a good price

Mike Piazza Honda--maybe, especially if you like the Mets

Martin is one of the cheaper dealers in the area.

I have contact names at many of the dealers if you want to email me.

Let us know what you end up doing.

see post 8489; you should be able to get this at or near invoice (a number of posters bought at invoice in NJ; I think one was even under invoice)
